Ludacris Added to the Impressive Cast of Gerard Butler's Game
November 14, 2007
by Alex Billington
I just returned a little while ago to my hotel room from a set visit to the upcoming Gerard Butler action movie that's currently known as Game (that title will change soon). If you thought Crank was cool, just imagine that same non-stop action but set in the future with endless high powered weaponry, 300's King Leonidas, and the over-the-top writing of Crank's filmmakers - that is Game, to say the very least. What we saw being filmed at a BMX park down in Albuquerque, New Mexico was thoroughly awesome, but our full set visit report will be arriving very soon. In the meantime, some casting news straight from the set has arrived. Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges joins an already extensive cast in Game that's headlined by Gerard Butler and written/directed by Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Who exactly does Ludacris play?
Ludacris joins Gerard Butler in the lead as Kable, Logan Lerman as his player, Alison Lohman, John Leguizamo, Michael C. Hall, Johnny Whitworth, stuntwoman Zoe Bell, Kyra Sedgwick, and Amber Valletta. If you're unsure of whether or not Ludacris can act at all, check out his past credits: 2 Fast 2 Furious, Crash, Hustle & Flow, Fred Claus, and Guy Ritchie's upcoming RocknRolla (in which you can see him talking about the film on set in this video). Like fellow rapper Common, who just starred in American Gangster and is in Wanted next, Ludacris is solidly establishing himself in Hollywood.
In the film, Ludacris is a part of Alison Lohman's resistance group titled Humanz (with a "z") that is protesting the way the prisoners are being used. The prisoners are actual convicts who are being "played" in a massive multiplayer game outside of the prison "walls" by gamers. In essence, other video game players are controlling these real humans inside of a game, with the objective being if the convict wins 30 games they get out of prison. The concept is actually pretty cool, it's just harder to explain without Gerard Butler on screen shooting guns and blowing sh*t up.
Stay tuned for our set visit report, which contains some exciting coverage from down here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is one movie I'll definitely suggest you keep an eye on!
