Rumor: Christian Bale is John Connor in Terminator 4!

Not that we don't trust AICN or their source, but this is just so baffling, we need real confirmation to truly believe it! They're reporting that Christian Bale will play John Connor in the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. The movie is to be directed by music video director McG and expected to arrive in theaters in 2009. The story will focus on John Connor organizing the surviving humans to resist Skynet's army of robots.
John Connor was played by Nick Stahl in Terminator 3. He is one of the few survivors of the dooms day at the end of Terminator 3 who eventually goes on to become the commander of the human armies who fight against Skynet's army of robots. Could this mean that Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins now has a chance of being pretty badass? I can't imagine McG really making a good Terminator movie, but maybe this is his calling and his past poor record will be forgotten.
At least if this rumor does turn out to be true, the film will have a solid actor leading it. However, Bale did turn it a pretty bad and pretty unentertaining performance in Harsh Times last year. We'll bring you updates and details as they develop on Terminator 4.

Christian Bale is one of my favorite contemporary actors but in my opinion this role will seriously lower my respects for him. They should've stopped the terminator movies after the first one in my oppinion.

If this turns out to be true, I think I need to reconsider my boycott!

McG directing?? It's as bad as having Uwe Boll ("BloodRayne", "House of the Dead") directing the next Spider-Man. Let's hope McG surprises us and doesn't hack the source material like the "Charlie's Angels" movies! Christian Bale needs to stick to the Batman franchise-which he'll do!
Why not bring back Edward Furlong? The original John Connor, older and well suited to pick up where he left off! His career can surely use a resuscitation!

Much as I HATE McGinty's involvement in this, Christian Bale as John Connor wouldn't be bad - not that I think the rumor is true, but I guess stranger things have happened.
Eddie Furlong doesn't really cut in it the acting stakes, but it sure would be interesting to see him return to the role.
