Introducing: FightCast - Round 1: Hitman and The Mist!
November 22, 2007
Given that the official HypeCast here on FS.net has been delayed (which I'll explain below), we've been searching for something to fill in the gaps until that gets back on track. My very good friend Peter Sciretta, who runs SlashFilm, and I have always phoned each other up after screening films and argued about them back and forth for quite a while. We decided to record those conversions and dub it the FightCast: a conversation between two film aficionados who argue about how good or how bad films truly are. Ready for Round 1?!
If you're looking for high production value, look elsewhere. This isn't even a show, it's a conversation between two film geeks. We're still working out the kinks on this whole podcast, but we're excited to launch the very first episode.
In this week's FightCast, we fight about Hitman and The Mist, two big Thanksgiving films that opened just yesterday. Hitman is an R-rated action flick based on a video game that stars Timothy Olyphant and is directed by Xavier Gens. The Mist is a horror, thriller based on the Stephen King novel and is directed by Frank Darabont.

Coming Soon!
We don't have official FightCast RSS feeds just yet, but stay tuned as we'll get them up and running very soon!
Within the next few weeks after today's launch we'll be starting a specific website just for the FightCast. Updates will be posted there and also linked to from here. For now, continue to follow the updates on here and on SlashFilm. We hope you enjoy the very first episode of FightCast and encourage you to send feedback in via Alex@firstshowing.net or the contact form.
The reason the HypeCast has been temporarily delayed is because both of the show's founders, Dave and Barry, decided to leave FS.net at the end of the summer due to creative differences. They're off on their own now, and we're trying to figure out how to get the podcast going again at the same level that they left it off at. Dave and Barry set such a high precedent that it's been hard to find a suitable replacement. So stay tuned as the HypeCast will return in due time!!
On that note, I'm off to play some golf, get a massage, and relax at this beautiful resort for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the FightCast!

That's a shame to hear about the departure of Dave and Barry, you guys had a really great show that kept getting better. Although, I think we all know 'creative differences' is just PR spin for some juicy gossip - can I speculate an affair? Seriously though, this Fightcast was a great show. I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes, but how long can you and Peter go on before a real fight ensues?
