TIME Magazine's Top Ten of 2007
December 13, 2007
Source: TIME.com, Awards Daily
by Alex Billington

Yet another worthwhile top ten list to point out. I know these seem like they never stop (and they really don't all the way through December and January), but they're perfect for pointing out the films that if you haven't seen yet, you definitely should. TIME Magazine has published two top ten lists (making it the top twenty, I guess), one from each of their two critics. This is another great selection of a variety of films that aren't the typical ones you'd expect, give or take No Country for Old Men showing up on everyone's list.
Richard Corliss:
10. Beowulf
9. Waitress
8. In the Valley of Elah
7. No End in Sight
6. Persepolis
5. Sweeney Todd
4. Atonement
3. Killer of Sheep
2. The Lives of Others
1. No Country for Old Men
Richard Schickel:
10. Dan in Real Life
9. There Will Be Blood
8. In the Valley of Elah
7. The Savages
6. Breach
5. Black Book
4. After the Wedding
3. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
2. No Country for Old Men
1. Michael Clayton

Good choice putting Michael Clayton at the number 1 spot, Schickel! I loved that movie and it's getting few mentions jhere and there and now finally a strong placement. Another movie increasingly more absent from all the lists is Juno. Everyone seems to love Ellen Page, but the movie on a whole is never mentioned or never put on any lists. Quite a shame, as it is definitely one of he best of the year.

"Dan in Real Life" !??? Dear God, that was THE most excruiating film I've sat through in years and years. Sappy, dopey, ridiculous, predictable and nauseating. Great cast, but abysmal script and acting.
