Must Watch: Next New Wall-E Trailer
The latest new trailer for Pixar's Wall-E has hit the internet and it's another one you can't miss. These just get better and better each time. Wall-E is that cute lil' robot who has been stuck compacting trash for 700 years on Earth, until now… I love what they're doing with this; it's a progressive introduction to the actual story. Each new trailer seems to show just a bit more than the last. Now we know Wall-E hitches a ride on a spaceship into space - but where to next?
Interview with Juno's Director Jason Reitman
Ever since I saw Juno at the Toronto Film Festival in September and attended a roundtable with Jason Reitman, he's been one of those filmmakers that I've always wanted to spend a few minutes chatting filmmaking with. He's such down-to-earth and cool guy who loves movies as much as you and I and takes that to heart when directing. Now that he has both Juno and Thank You For Smoking (his debut feature film) under his belt, it's obvious that anything Reitman makes is bound to be fantastic. Thankfully I had the chance to talk with Jason on the phone as he was boarding a plane to transfer cities on his press tour for Juno and talk about all things movies, making Juno, Diablo Cody, and his own personal favorite five films.
Writers Strike Update: SAG Pledges WGA Support Too
It's been quite a while since we've updated the Writers Strike here on FS.net, and it's primarily because there hasn't been too much extraordinary to mention. Unfortunately the strike is still underway with no signs of stopping. Although a proposal was made a few weeks ago, it was quickly torn apart by the writers and has since been long forgotten. The most recent news on the strike as of Monday is that the writers have decided to reach out to individual studios and companies instead of dealing directly with the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) on a whole.
Gemma Arterton Confirmed as a Bond Girl in Bond 22
One of the big movies that's currently filming for a 2008 release is Bond 22, the (obviously) 22nd installment of the James Bond franchise starring Daniel Craig as Bond and directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Stranger Than Fiction, The Kite Runner). The latest news on the film is that British actress Gemma Arterton has been confirmed by a reliable source over at Empire Online as a Bond girl. Although it's not 100% announced whether she will play Bond's primarily love interest (like Eva Green in Casino Royale) or a secondary female character, at least she is one of the pretty faces who we'll be seeing on screen next November.
Watchmen Artist Dave Gibbons Visits The Set - And Loves It!
Although it's been long-documented that legendary comic book author Alan Moore will never support any movie based off of his work (including From Hell, V for Vendetta, or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), that's not the case with Dave Gibbons, co-creator and artist of Watchmen. Dave Gibbons visited the set of Watchmen at some point in December, and recently updated the official Watchmen blog with his report, and it's a good one. Here's how he starts: "It's perhaps the most surreal experience of my life." Sounds like a very good sign to me that Zack Snyder knows what he's doing if the original artist of the graphic novel loved being there.
AFI's Top Ten Movies of 2007
Yet another top 10 list for 2007, but this one comes from the American Film Institute, the organization that published that highly controversial Top 100 Movies of the Last 100 Years list. They name their own Top 10 from 2007 (in no particular order) and it's another list that's worth pointing out in a crowd of other bland top ten lists. If you haven't already noticed, I don't like the lists that follow the same exact critics' pattern and are just the same bland movies everyone assumes will win. With AFI's Top 10 list, there are the best of the best and some extra ones that deserve a spot on this list.
Jaq's Review: I Am Legend - Too Many Ideas, Not Enough Screen Time
The problem with I Am Legend is that it has no idea what kind of a film it wants to be. This isn't to say it's not enjoyable, just that it's not nearly as good as it could be which is a shame because the source material, a novel by Richard Matheson and 1971's Omega Man, are both well thought out pieces of speculative fiction. Here, though, the film never settles down into a rhythm and ends up leaving the audience unfulfilled.
The Dark Knight Full Theatrical Trailer Debuts!
Stop what you're doing. Put down the remote, stop clicking the mouse elsewhere, drop everything and come watch this trailer now! This the first full trailer for The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, that played in front of I Am Legend over the weekend and it is jaw-dropping amazing. Every time I watch it I still get tingles down my spine. From Batman gearing up again in a new Batsuit, to the Joker, played perfectly by Heath Ledger, to seeing Michael Caine as Alfred again, to Detective Gordon destroying the Bat-symbol skylight. This is going to be one hell of an awesome movie next summer, so fire up this trailer up right now and enjoy!
