AFI's Top 10 Movies of 2007

Yet another top 10 list for 2007, but this one comes from the American Film Institute, the organization that published that highly controversial Top 100 Movies of the Last 100 Years list. They name their own Top 10 from 2007 (in no particular order) and it's another list that's worth pointing out in a crowd of other bland top ten lists. If you haven't already noticed, I don't like the lists that follow the same exact critics' pattern and are just the same bland movies everyone assumes will win. With AFI's Top 10 list, there are the best of the best and some extra ones that deserve a spot on this list.

I don't know why Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is on there, it's really not a great movie at all. It has no buzz anyway and I think everyone is just honoring Sidney Lumet, not actually thinking about if it's that good or not. However, it's great to see Knocked Up, Juno, Michael Clayton, and Ratatouille on there. All great movies that deserve this year-end recognition.

Michael Clayton was not really that good. I think critics just have a hard-on for Clooney.

Agreed. I like Clooney but I think Michael Clayton was vastly overrated. Most of the time I believe I can understand why a movie gets a great deal of praise, but this one was just lost on me.

I don't believe Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is getting a great deal of praise just because of Lumet. Despite a great many successes in the last 50 years, he has always taken a backseat to other directorswho have come and gone over the years. I think this movie makes it clear to all that he still knows how to make a hell of a movie. When I first heard about this project I figured it would be swept under the rug like his last film, 2006's Find Me Guilty (overlooked). I think this film succeeded on its own merits.

I think Clayton was a good acting flick but not much else. I didn't see "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" yet, but AFI lists I don't like. Here are the years past films on the top 10 I DON'T AGREE WITH:
