Keira Knightley's The Duchess Teaser Trailer
December 27, 2007

I was hesitant on running this, but there's nothing better this week, so why not? Keira Knightley stars as Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire and Ralph Fiennes stars as the Duke of Devonshire. The Duchess is similar to Marie Antoinette in that it's a period piece about the most fashionable person in all of Europe (at the time). My gripe is that I'm tired of these epic period pieces and especially tired of period pieces with Keira Knightley - Atonement wasn't as mind blowing as everyone is making it out to be. The only period movie I really want to see next year is The Other Boleyn Girl. Have a look for yourself, if you dare.

The Duchess is directed by Saul Dibb, who's only previously film is Bullet Boy. The script was written by Jeffrey Hatcher (Casanova) and Anders Thomas Jensen (After the Wedding) and is adapted from a novel by Amanda Foreman titled Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire. The film doesn't have a release date set yet, but will arrive sometime in 2008.

THANK YOU ALEX! FINALLY! Someone who didn't care for 'Atonement', I can see where people liked it, I gave it a *** out of ****.
Anyway, I think this will play out like 'Vanity Fair'. I am not a big fan of period pieces, not liking the first 'Elizabeth', and missed the sequel, but I don't have much faith in 'Boleyn Girl', with its delays from reshoots.

Wow, Keira is going to be in another period piece!!! I can't wait. (sarcasm fully included) I mean she always comes to play and makes a great movie but I would love to see some range. Domino wasn't great be it was a nice change of pace. Can take it or leave it.
BTW: Been listening to the HypeCast. Great work Alex, love the insights. Take care.

Alex, I agree with you. while Atonement was a good film, it wasn't as 'epic' as I was led to believe/ expected. The technical aspects of the film are noteworthy though: cinematography, staging etc. However, it was not the best film of '07.
Looking forward to "the Other Boleyn girl" though…should be interesting.

I think I'll like the film but it's my type so I can't say things that is realist because for me those tpe of cinema are really mine…Like "Marie-Antoinette" or something else
