Jimmy Fallon's The Year of Getting to Know Us Trailer
December 30, 2007
Source: WorstPreviews
by Alex Billington
The year Jimmy Fallon turned dramatic. The Year of Getting to Know Us aka Rocket (as it's titled in the trailer) is about, as described by Sundance, a commitment-phobic man who reunites with his estranged, ailing father and comes to terms with his own childhood. This one of the many new films premiering at Sundance in a couple of weeks. It's got a fully loaded cast: Jimmy Fallon, Lucy Liu, Tom Arnold, Sharon Stone, but I'm still not sure what to make of it. I think Lucy Liu has been making some terrible decisions recently, and this might be another. I'll give it a chance (bad trailers make for good movies), but I'm not expecting anything extraordinary. Please let me know what you think of this trailer - I want to see if my initial opinion is "off" from everyone else's.

The Year of Getting to Know Us is directed by first-time feature filmmaker Patrick Sisam and co-written by Sisam and Rick Velleu. The film doesn't have a public release date yet, but premieres at Sundance in January.

It looks like a poorly executed attempt at a coming of age story. I have some serious doubts about Jimmy Fallon's ability in this type of movie, and Lucy Liu never really gives you much to look forward to. The trailer looks terrible. The music is so poorly selected, and it's a bit choppy. I will have to agree with you on this one, Alex.

Wow, you know…
You might have credited Ethan Canin's short story as the source

Yeah, maybe I'd have a better feeling about this movie if the trailer music was different, but it kinda stunk, so I have a negative feeling about this one.

Ugh! I ***hate*** Jimmy Fallon. How in the world does this no talent continue to get work while thousands of "actors" don't? I wouldn't watch his movies free on television.

The music really threw me out, with the constant song changes that really didn't fit.
I love Lucy Liu but the past few things she did were absolutely horrible, though I'll probably check out that new show that she's in, 'Cashmere Mafia', what the hell is it? Sex and the City meets The Sopranos?
Anyway, this looks like it can be cute, but not much else.

Yeah, like I've never seen this piece of trash before. Last time was with Ryan Reynolds & Amy Smart, I think. Stupid.

I'm interested. I'm not a big Fallon fan, and have a hard time seeing him in a part outside an SNL skit, but I'll give anything with Tom Arnold a chance.

I'll probably watch it only because it's filmed in Jacksonville, where I lived a good chunk of my life, especially Hidden Hills. The theme of the movie has been done ad nauseum. I do like Tom Arnold a lot. I would not pay money even to rent this one except for the Jacksonville factor.

this movie looks amazing.
people are just too stupid to like good movies with a good story and script and emotion. at least jimmy has been picking not so stupid movies lately unlike will ferrell and adam sandler as much as i love them. jimmy fallon has the potential to be an amazing actor and MEN are jealous of him. hate to say it but people in america have no taste except for me and a few others.
i bet the lot of you will go see don't mess with the zohan and semi-pro which have no meaning whatsoever but skip this type of movie which does. this is a family movie, a feel good movie unlike those i named.
you know what, i am 21 and i want to see this movie.
maybe i'm mature unlike half of you who just bash jimmy fallon.
give him a chance.
he just got the agent will ferrell and jim carrey have [so i have read].
