Another Slasher Remake: Terror Train

Another (probably unnecessary) horror remake is coming along, this time it's the 1980 movie Terror Train that starred Jamie Lee Curtis and was directed by Roger Spottiswoode. An update recently from The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that newcomer Gideon Raff will write and direct the remake of the slasher, which is likely to begin shooting this summer.
In the original, a sinister prank has long-lasting effects which become fatally apparent when a group of college students throw a costume party aboard a train. I've never really heard of it until now, but the only thing its got going for it is a catchy title. Is this remake another one to add to the ever-growing list of unneeded remakes? Sounds like it will be. It's rare a good remake comes along and takes the place of an original, and I don't see this being the one.
