Boxing with Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg in The Fighter

After my article a while back about boxing movies and why they're so enjoyable, I got pretty excited hearing about another one. This time it's called The Fighter and will star Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg together.

Variety reported that Paramount has greenlit and fast-tracked the project that will be about two real-life fighters from Massachusetts, "Irish" Micky Ward (Wahlberg) and his half-brother Dicky (Damon). The focus is on Micky's unlikely path to the world lightweight title. A script is being revised currently and if both like it they will take on the project which will begin filming in early summer in Massachusetts.

Given how good Rocky Balboa was, and how amazing both of these guys were in The Departed, and how much I love "Marky Mark" and Damon anyway, I don't think this could be a more exciting project! Let's hope it all comes through as planned.
