City of Heroes Film Rights Picked Up

One of the only superhero universes that isn't part of Marvel or DC Comics or even Dark Horse is the video game created by NCsoft called City of Heroes. Despite that the MMORPG video game is a world where you create your own superhero, a Hollywood producer by the name of Tom DeSanto (the same who helped produce Transformers) has secured the rights to the game and is creating a feature film adaptation. The project revolves around a group of superheroes who live in Paragon City and must team in order to fight an invasion of aliens known as the Rikti.
DeSanto plans to first turn it into a live-action feature film and then later transition it onto television in some form. I can only guess this is probably fueled by the success of Heroes, which is a bit similar to the idea here, except with a different concept. The game first came out in 2004 and was followed up by City of Villains. This sounds like it could be an interesting project, but I'm not sure if it will turn out as good as most comic book adaptations have been these days.
