Eli Roth's Trailer Trash - A Movie of Only Fake Trailers!
You know when someone says that terribly cliché line "the trailers are the best part!" when you go to the movies? Well now their dream will come true - an entire movie of fake trailers is apparently the latest idea from Eli Roth, director of Hostel I and Part II and also of the unforgettable fake trailer for Thanksgiving in Grindhouse. He told Collider about his plans during the Saturn Awards (full list of winners here) yesterday night, including that he's already got his friends on for making some trailers. Is this the new revolution, fake trailers?
Here's what Eli Roth had to say in regards to the idea.
"I'm going to be doing a film of all fake trailers, like Thanksgiving, called Trailer Trash. I want to make a movie like Borat or Jackass that's literally completely ridiculous, totally silly and absurd, that's just all fake trailers. I have a genius way to tie it all together so it will actually play like a movie."
"I want to do this with a budget because they have to look like movies. Literally I'll have the satisfaction because it will feel like I made 30 movies. That's the beauty of Trailer Trash - you just need good gags and good kills."
According to Roth, a few of his friends are already on board to contribute segments, including Hot Fuzz's Edgar Wright, special effects guru Gregory Nicotero and Sin City's Robert Rodriguez. Roth's got an extensive list of friends, so it's likely we'll see segments from Quentin Tarantino and Richard Kelly, too, in addition to probably a few more.
Thanksgiving 2 is just one of the films he plans to already include in the compilation, which he hopes to shoot in parts before and after he goes into production on the adaptation of Stephen King's The Cell.
I have two big questions for everyone. First, is this real and is this happening already as he says (or is it just some fun rumor he came up with to create some gossip)?! Second, would anyone actually go see this? (I would!)

I'd go see this is a heartbeat. If I like it as much as I think I would I'd pay to see it multiple times. And to think, when I was younger I was wathcing all these indy, psuedo-intellectual films and now mindless fun like this is highest form of entertainment in my eyes.

YES!!! I'm fully on board for anything from eli roth with tons of gore. trailer trash being one of them, and he's also rumored to be creating a full length version of thanksgiving for grindhouse 2. I really hope both work out for him, cause thanksgiving simply blew my mind.

I think this is the greatest idea... I saw Grindhouse 5 times and I've seen everything each director has done so far. Even though Eli Roth is the weakest out of Tarantino, Rodriguez, Zombie, and Wright, I think this is his specialty. Although, I really hope to see trailers from Tarantino, Rodriguez, Rob Zombie, Edgar Wright, and hell... maybe even Kevin Smith could do one, that would kick ass!

I work at a movie theatre and we watch trailer reels all the time so... this would be nothing new to me. I'm up for this!

I would go and see this. If done right it could be hilarious (think back to the skits in Kentucky Fried Movie, Monty Python's the Meaning of life...) But if looking at the list of collaborators I have every faith.
