Repo! The Genetic Opera!

What a night for dark and bloody musicals! The Spike TV Scream Awards were held last night and Twisted Pictures debuted a special quick first look at some footage from Repo! The Genetic Opera! That's the original horror-musical that Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman is directing and that has been filming up in Toronto. This footage look intense - everyone really needs to watch this!

I've got some really, really high hopes for this! Something about the eccentric cast and Darren Lynn Bousman and the insane concept just seems promising. It may be something that could end up really changing Hollywood and horror movies yet again. And now this exciting footage is starting to prove that claim true. The release date was just set for April 25th next year and the footage comes courtesy of ShockTillYouDrop.com, so send some love their way!

UPDATE: The complete and better quality version of the same teaser trailer above has been posted. Watch it here!

Repo The Genetic Opera! will hit theaters everywhere on April 25th, 2008 distributed by Lionsgate. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and starring Alexa Vega, Paul Sorvino, Paris Hilton, Nivek Ogre, and Sarah Brightman, Repo is a musical and a horror movie all rolled in one. A worldwide epidemic encourages a biotech company to launch an organ-financing program similar in nature to a standard car loan. The repossession clause is a killer, however.
