Newest Real Life Chef Movie - Cooked

March 13, 2007
There's just something about watching the art of cooking behind the scenes, and I'm not talking about the cooking channel. Is there anyone who wouldn't love to stand by and watch the endless amounts of delicious food being prepared in the kitchen of a big and famous restaurant? I think not! Even Pixar has Ratatouille coming out which is all about chefs and cooking, despite being CGI. And now here's another one that may not sound interesting at first, but if you look a little more into it, it may end up perking some interest.
Chef Jeff Henderson, who's currently the executive chef in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, wrote a memoir called Cooked about his uphill battle as a chef convincing Los Angeles area restaurant owners that he would be a trustworthy and worthwhile addition to their kitchen teams upon his release from prison. Who's set to star in the film version?
The one and only Will Smith is "in talks" to star in the film as Henderson, a one-time cocaine dealer who discovered a passion for cooking in prison. News from SlashFilm states that Columbia Pictures has bought the rights to the script and is putting together the initial pre-production to get it underway, eyeing Smith for the role. It's yet another nitty gritty real life story that Will Smith will take on, after doing a great job and even getting Oscar nominated in The Pursuit of Happyness last Winter. Sounds interesting to me - I'll be there!
