Rachel Weisz in Sin City 2 Speculation Strengthens; Drops Mummy 3

In a Variety report this morning updating details on The Mummy 3, the most important news is that Rachel Weisz will not be returning to the project. Why is this important? Because the sleuths over at SlashFilm have investigated her upcoming projects a bit further, and it seems like she's just about set for Sin City 2, but casting hasn't been confirmed by Robert Rodriguez or anyone else yet.
Also confirmed is that Brendan Fraser has just about signed his contract for a huge check to return for The Mummy 3. The worst part is that the more we talk about it, the more exposure the film gets. And so on that note, I'm dropping it. I don't need to talk about how terrible the movie is going to be and won't be bringing it up again for a long while. Let's focus back on Rachel and Sin City 2.
A rumor has been running since January from Cinema Blend that Rachel Weisz is going to be cast in the lead role as Ava in Sin City 2 and not the other rumored actress Angelina Jolie. With this update today, SlashFilm has discovered that her schedule is free from May to August, in between shooting about four other movies. That is nearly the right time that Sin City 2 will be shooting, and by now everything is pointing to it being true. But why are we so wrapped up in celebrities lives?! (We're not!) Maybe she just needs a break to care for her 9 month old child. I'm sure we'll find out sooner or later, so keep watch.
If it does come true, it should be a good choice. While I was personally looking forward to a strong role from Jolie, I think Weisz could pull it off and deliver a strong character as well.
