Sequel Rumors: Pixar Planning Cars 2, Danny Boyle Wants 28 Months Later

A couple of sequel rumors have popped up this weekend, one from Pixar and the other from Danny Boyle. With the summer of sequels coming to an end and a rather mediocre set of movies, it's interesting to see that Hollywood is still pushing for more sequels.
First up is a blog site called JV Pixar News thats says that "a very reliable anonymous source" has told them that Cars 2 is coming up after Toy Story 3. They say that they are aiming for back-to-back sequel releases with Toy Story 3 in 2010 and Cars 2 in 2011.
Secondly is a report on Bloody Disgusting that says Danny Boyle has an idea for 28 Months Later and that he may want to direct it if he can fit it into his schedule.
Neither of these rumors seem like they're fully confident enough to go through. As for Cars 2, Pixar has continuously said that they're not in the business of making sequels, except for Toy Story (and a lot of people loved the second one). Although they are making Toy Story 3 for sure, Cars doesn't exactly seem like the right movie for a sequel. However I've seen more kids wearing Cars t-shirts than any other Pixar movie, so that may say something for the kid demographic.
As for 28 Months Later, Boyle did say that he has an idea, which means it could come together. And interestingly, I'm all for it. I loved the second one, 28 Weeks Later, more than even the first one. Hopefully if it comes together under Boyle's direction it holds up as well as the first.
