The New Beverly Cinema has The Wright Stuff Film Festival

After selling out a screening of his films in August, Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) is returning to the New Beverly Cinema theatre in Los Angeles to show some off his favorite movies. Wright will be at the theater to introduce the screenings, schedule permitting. In addition, the festival will also include several surprise special guests. Painstakingly handpicked, the films cover a wide spectrum of decades and film genres. From horror to comedy, musicals and more, the festival is sure to have something for every taste. If you live in Los Angeles, you will NEED to check this out!

Damnit, it's a Christmas present I won't be getting - why don't I live in LA?! Here's the line-up:

All shows start at 7:30PM and cost $7 for the whole night!

Dec 2nd - Bugsy Malone & Phantom of the Paradise & a secret midnight show
Special Guests: Paul Williams

Dec 5th - Flash Gordon & Danger Diabolik
Special Guests: Timothy Dalton, Joe Dante

Dec 7th - The Last Boy Scout & Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Special Guests: Shane Black

Dec 10th - American Werewolf in London & Tremors
Special Guests: John Landis

Dec 12th - Top Secret & Bananas
Special Guests: David Zucker

Dec 14th - Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls (TBC) & Head
Special Guests: Mickey Dolenz

Dec 16th-17th - Raising Arizona & Evil Dead 2
Special Guests: Unannounced

Edgar Wright will be at each and every show introducing the movies and hosting Q&As with the special guests. There will also be vintage trailers in between the movies each night. This looks absolutely incredible! I'd be spending my hard-earned $49 and would be there every single night if I could.

Danger Diabolik? I can see all the other films because most of them are awesome. But Diabolik? That movie is AWFUL. I remember even watching the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode they had of that movie. I need to move to LA. I'm missing out.

If only all mainstream theaters around the world added a line-up of classic and not-so-older movies to their screens, at matinee prices; I'd be paying to go to the cinema again

Awesome idea, gets me longing for the days when pure, and simple, fun ruled the cinema. Flash Gordon, An American Werewolf in London, Top Secret: My three top choices to see on the big screen. Why are there not more festivals similar to this one? They should be a common occurrence. Yeah, they're out on DVD, but nothing beats the magic of the movie theater.
