Golden Globes Have Been Cancelled!

Sorry for being a bit late reporting this breaking news, but it's too big to still pass up. Due to the persistence of the Writers Guild and the ongoing writers strike, the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards have been cancelled! The HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) has announced that the NBC telecast on January 13th has been cancelled, and instead the winners will be announced via an hour-long press conference (that will be televised). The writers are victorious this time!
The HFPA released the following statement yesterday:
"We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007's outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television," said Jorge Camara, President of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year's Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled."
In related news, the HFPA also announced that it would delay the Cecil B. DeMille Award which was to be given to Steven Spielberg until next year's Globes. As for whether this means there will be two award winners next year, I'm unsure, but the annual award for "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field" will not be presented this year.
Although I'm not a huge fan of the Golden Globes and am not at all worried that they're not going to be telecast, this is quite a big development. The writers have done in a fantastic job of showing force and causing something as major as this to be cancelled. We'll be back again on evening of January 13th ready to post the winners as they're announced live on NBC via the press conference. Now if the Oscars are cancelled, that won't sit well with me, but the Golden Globes… oh well!

i never made it a priority to watch them but if i was home and nothing else was on i would see it. i dont mind either.
but i feel really bad for those nominated. especialy first timers because this may be their only visit to a big time award show and they dont get to go. sorry guys.

PLEASE someone help us!!!! For me The Oscars are the Super Bowl for film. I will be so pissed if the greedy studios dont come to some arrangement before that.
