First Look: Speed Racer's Rival Race Car Revealed

Everyone knows how much I'm looking forward to The Wachowski Brothers' Speed Racer this upcoming summer, but not everyone is the same way. Despite the differences, another car from the film was revealed this weekend at the Tokyo Auto Salon and it looks incredible. In the film, Speed will actually be racing against this team, called the Autobacs Racing Team Aguri (aka ARTA), and their futuristic car modeled somewhat after ARTA's Super GT 300 car. Some new photos have appeared online for a first look at this futuristic beauty.
The photos come courtesy of Rocket Punch, so send some love their way. Although it's hard to imagine this sweet ride in action just from these photos, this thing does look awesome. I can't wait to see it in action in the movie.

If you haven't already seen it yet, check out the first trailer that debuted for this movie back in December. Speed Racer, written and directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski, arrives in theaters this summer on May 9th.

Hey let's promote gas guzzling vehicle sports to our children . That way we can have a reason to continue murdering people in Iraq. Hahahah….Serious, do we really need race car driving movie ?
We are on the verge of changing from Fossil Fuel base energy to Green Energy systems, so why is Hollywood promoting this crap ? Stupid Wachowski brother, you SOLD OUT. you Corporate cock suckers.

I see no statement in the article that the car runs on fossil fuels. I do not even see a fuel tank. Additionally, race cars are the cause of an unimaginably small amount of the environmental hazards involved in fuel production and use. Besides, the Speed Racer movie is much more directed at those of us who were around to watch the cartoon than the youth of today, though adding more children to the fanbase is certainly welcome. If anything, the Wachowski Brothers are indeed futurists and have made their dislike of conventional politics and economy very clear through their work, such as V for Vendetta or even bits of The Matrix.
I expect that, as high and mighty as you are Julia, you drive exclusively hybrids and/or use public transportation, have eschewed plastics and other oil-byproducts from your daily life, and make it out to all the anti-war protests in your area as well as writing your congressman, so it would be redundant of me to advise it, right? If you don't, then I'd strongly suggest that in its place, you try "shutting the fuck up" and turning that critical finger of yours on yourself rather than deriding the art of others because you do not agree with the economic message, whether intended or not (and in this case I am sure it is the latter).
Speed Racer looks like it's gonna be a beautiful and fun movie, and a very risky venture as well. Perhaps you should save your denigration for those that shape policy rather than those who produce art and develop modern filmmaking technologies. As a member of the Green party, I would ask that you please either educate yourself or, as stipulated earlier, shut the fuck up so as to avoid associating your uninformed worldview with those of us who actually care about these issues so far as to act upon them.
I can't wait to see this movie.

I hope Julia Hope doesn't have kids, it would be horrible to be them.

Jesus fucking Christ, Julia. It's a fucking movie. It no longer shocks me when people say that women are usually completely devoid of logic, common sense and consistency.

Believe it or not, all of the cars in the new Speed Racer movie run on a fuel mixture of sunshine and farts. So they are in fact teaching children that there are alternatives to fossil fuels.

I completely agree with you Julia!
I also think we should boycott "Gone Baby Gone" because it encourages abducting and murdering children.
