Alex's Escape from Utah

I just arrived home from driving for 15 hours straight, no joke. And I've got the flu with a terrible soar throat. I wanted to let everyone know why there hasn't been any updates in the past 24 hours, and that's why. I'm exhausted, I feel terrible, and I can hardly breathe. However, I feel even worse leaving the site go without any updates, so I'll do my best to get caught up ASAP. I won't let this happen again - we're a reliable news source and we always make sure we're one of the first to bring you the movie news you want. I hope you can all be understanding just this once.
The problem was that a blizzard had run through most of the Utah / Wyoming / Colorado area on Monday. I was stuck in Salt Lake City for an extra day Monday night, and headed out on Tuesday afternoon expecting it to be a slower-than-normal drive, but eventually I'd get home. There was supposed to be another big snow storm moving in on Wednesday as well, and I didn't want to get stuck again. Alas, I got on I-80 and got all the way to Rock Springs, Wyoming, about 100 miles in from the Utah/Wyoming border. From that point east, I-80 was closed. Eventually the police told us to turn around and head back into town.
From there I spent the next 10 or so hours driving back down into Utah via the city Vernal, then east into Colorado, eventually catching I-70 and finishing out a slow, snowy drive. I spent about 8 of those hours driving on snow packed roads going about 45 MPH with a snow storm raging overhead. This was no easy task and I'm worn out. It's no fun when you're driving at night and the only thing you can see is the road 500 feet in front of you and pitch black everywhere else. However, I've made it home safe and sound and now am trying to battle this flu and get healthy again soon.

Alex,
I find it completely unacceptable for you not to have updated your site. What do you mean you were stuck? The rest of us got out of Utah just fine… I feel like maybe you stopped off somewhere to make snow angels or something. Yes, that must be it — snow angels. That, and feverishly checking you email, but for what, we will never know…
Hehe… Just kidding, man. Good to see that you made it home.

I was covering Sundance, too. AND I have the flu now. All of the Sundance veterans, with their little bottles of gel disinfectant (whom I may have mocked internally) seem to have been right. Go to Sundance: get a virus.

Ok, this is a bit odd.
I too was in Park City covering Sundance, and when I got back I had the worst flu I've had in years. I left on Tuesday of last week, and have been sick for about 5 days now.
At least I missed the blizzard though.

Oddly out of the four of us who were there covering Sundance for Cinema Blend, I'm the only one who got sick. Even my wife didn't, and she almost certainly kissed me repeatedly. Poor woman.
Maybe it only attacks editors and site owners, reporters and spouses are immune. Payback.
