Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are is Being Entirely Reshot?
Over the past few days I've been hearing some rumblings and rumors about Where the Wild Things Are that say the film is in trouble internally at Warner Brothers. Initially I heard that director Spike Jonze wanted to remove his name, but now via CHUD some new information has arrived saying that the execs at Warners are looking at reshooting the entire $75 million film because what Jonze created was not to their liking. Not only is this interesting news anyway, but it's alarming to hear that they might be stripping the movie of everything that Spike Jonze brought to it in order to make a more commercial movie suited towards kids.
It's Official - Live-Action Akira Confirmed Already for 2009!
Back in October last year, we reported a rumor that the Japanese anime classic Akira would eventually be getting a live-action remake. We finally have official confirmation today that says there will not only be a new adaptation, but that it is being split into two movies! Warner Brothers has re-acquired the rights and is putting the first film into production right away, aiming to release the first movie by the summer of 2009. However, the film is primarily going to be adapted from anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo's graphic novel more than the original 1988 anime movie.
One Final Epic 10,000 B.C. Trailer
This is your last chance to get excited as hell for the upcoming prehistoric epic 10,000 B.C. This looks like The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day combined and set 10,000 years ago. There's a lot of hype building for 10,000 B.C. and I'll be damned in this last trailer doesn't get my blood pumping. My friend said it best - this movie really makes your imagination run wild. However, I'm personally only semi-excited for it. I'm wondering whether it really will be an epic blockbuster that's fun and entertaining and well-made or just a over-the-top bore. How many others are really looking forward to finally seeing 10,000 B.C. and catching it in theaters on opening weekend?

New Rorschach Photo: Watchmen's Evolution from Comic to Storyboard to Film
It's official - principal photography on Watchmen has wrapped and it will now move into post-production for over a year. On Monday we brought you a very heartfelt thank you from the film's executive producer Herb Gains, and now we've got even more. This time it's a new fully finished photo of Rorschach torching a foe straight from director Zack Snyder, who also comments on wrapping filming. In addition to the photo and compliments of our friend Peter, we've put together a look at the evolution of one scene, from the comic book, to the storyboard, and finally to a finished still from the movie.
SXSW First Look: FrontRunners Documentary
The SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX is just a few weeks away and we're looking at a few of the films that will be premiering there. Today it's the documentary FrontRunners directed by Caroline Suh. "It's hard to run for office - even in high school." The doc is a look at the student body president elections at the prestigious Stuyvesant High School in New York City. Similar to American Teen, the runaway high school documentary hit from Sundance, FrontRunners follows four students who must battle through the social atmosphere of high school to gain the popularity and attention of their peers and win their vote.
Mike Myers is Daydreaming in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a comedic short story written by James Thurber in 1941 that has garnered more Hollywood print over the years to surpass the story's original length many times over. Since the original 1947 film starring Danny Kaye, various directors and studios have entertained completing a remake. Now, MTV is reporting that Mike Myers is assuming a central role in creating a new version of Thurber's most famous short story with Mark Waters (Freaking Friday, Mean Girls) attached as director. Roland Emmerich Pushing 2012 As His Next Movie
Filmmaker Roland Emmerich (pictured right) is known for his epic summer blockbusters, having brought us the likes of Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot and The Day After Tomorrow. In just a few weeks his next movie, 10,000 B.C., will arrive in theaters and deliver yet another stunningly epic portrayal of a time past. But what comes after that? Back in August there were rumblings that Emmerich would be remaking the 1966 sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage, but a report from Variety today tells us that he's shopping around a script for another epic film titled 2012 instead. He's even trying to sell it with a summer 2009 release date set and has everything on the production side ready to go, including budgets and marketing.
