SXSW First Look: Super High Me Documentary
February 26, 2008
by Alex Billington
The SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX is just a few weeks away and we're looking at a few of the films that will be premiering there. Today it's the documentary Super High Me directed by Michael Blieden. "You know that movie Super Size Me, where that guy Morgan Spurlock ate McDonald's every meal for 30 days? People actually paid money to see that. Well, if that's a movie, I've got a movie! I'm going to smoke pot every day for 30 days, and it's going to be called SUPER HIGH ME or Business As Usual…I haven't decided on a title yet. But guess what? McDonald's is going to be in my movie too!" And that's the premise for Super High Me.
To clarify, comedian Doug Benson is actually doing a "comparative" piece where for 30 days he'll smoke marijuana and for 30 days he won't smoke marijuana. He's even going as far as to not drink alcohol for the entire two months to make sure that it wouldn't "mess up" the results. While the film has yet to premiere, reports said that he actually gained 10 pounds during the "high" month. With that we've got out first look at the trailer for the documentary and it does look promising, if not ridiculously funny.
Watch the teaser trailer for Super High Me:
Super High Me is directed by comedic filmmaker Michael Blieden, of numerous comedy TV specials and "Mad TV". The film will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival with the first showing on Friday, March 7th at 6PM. The film is being distributed by Netflix and Screen Media and can be expected at some point in 2008.
You can be certain that we'll be seeing this at SXSW and will be one of the first to report back on our thoughts. Check out the full-line up of films showing at SXSW this year.

I think this will be a very controversial film with all the bud haters out there but I love pot and I think everyone should as well so I will definitely watch this film and enjoy it while also smoking =)
