Ricky Gervais' This Side of the Truth Cast Grows

Late last year we brought you news of Rickey Gervais' upcoming foray into big Hollywood with his project This Side of the Truth. Since then, the funny Brit has amassed a pretty respectable cast including Jennifer Garner, Robe Lowe, Jonah Hill and Louis C.K. Today, we learn via Gervais' blog that John Hodgman, Tina Fey, Christopher Guest and Jeffrey Tambor are now part of the team. This is shaping up to be some cast as well as a promising comedy.
This Side of the Truth is an interesting comedy that sounds very much in line with Gervais' deadpan, calculated humor. Essentially, the story is about a contemporary, fictitious society that is built on absolute truth-telling. No one lies, ever. That is until Mark (Gervais) breaks the mold one evening, telling the slightest of lies. Of course, this scenario snowballs and Mark uses his societal side-stepping to his advantage in all manner of ways.
Couple this story with some true comedic geniuses and this is sounding like one nice Hollywood debut for Gervais. Of course, Gervais is no stranger to the industry, having written for "The Office" and "Extras", and starring in films such as Stardust. Despite his industry cred, Gervais is still a bit unknown in America. However, his stature in his native UK rivals that of Jerry Seinfeld or Larry David. The man's got talent.
I haven't been an avid follower of Gervais by any stretch - arguably I'm drawn to less intellectual comedies - but I am starting to become very intrigued by the cast he's gathering. Johan Hill, John Hodgman and Tina Fey are fantastic additions. And though not as comedic, really, Jennifer Garner is still nonetheless very appealing to watch.
Gervais, who also wrote and is directing This Side of the Truth, is giving folks pretty intimate access to production of the film through his blog. I'd definitely encourage people to check it out if you're at all interested in the film, or if you're just curious about the comedian's process and thoughts.
