Jaime King Cast in My Bloody Valentine Remake

Stop with the remakes, please! I love Eli Roth's enthusiasm for cult classic horror flicks like this, but now we've gone too far. Yes, every last holiday has a horror movie made about it - even Valentine's Day. Bombshell beauty Jaime King has been cast as the lead in Lionsgate's My Bloody Valentine 3D. The film is a remake of the 1981 film My Bloody Valentine that's about, you guessed it, a murderer who goes around killing those who celebrate Valentine's Day. Hasn't Hollywood learned its lesson about horror remakes yet?
Long-time film editor and Dracula 2000 director Patrick Lussier will be taking on a script written by first-timer Zane Smith. Production will begin on May 12th for a release date of January 23rd, 2009. Jaime King, known most for playing Goldie in Sin City and Angela Patton in Slackers, will play the character Sarah Palmer, a woman who marries her teenage sweetheart's nemesis (that spells d-o-o-m for them!). "When she and her first love are reunited, it becomes clear that she still carries a torch for the man." What?
Not only does this already sound as bad as the Prom Night remake due out in April this year, but its going to be in 3D?! Really, what has Hollywood come to? I hope these continue to flop so that they realize it's a pointless waste to continue making them. The original films they're based off of are classic for being campy - it doesn't help to try and remake them with a serious tone! I rarely rant like this, but this time I've got to let it out. Anyone care to fight for the other side and try and convince me that this could be good?

Unfortunately, remakes are a driving force in Hollywood these days. However, with so many remakes falling WAY short of their respective originals, I'm leery about this one too. Jaime King is pretty hot and I'm sure she'll do a good job. Eli Roth's involvement, however, doesn't bode well for this production, especially if he's the director. Torture porn anyone? YAWN! The script seems so sub-par it's following the blueprint of "Prom Night"—another flop-in-waiting. But worst of all, 3-D? Clearly the producers plan to use this gimmick to compensate for it's shortcomings. This also doesn't bode well for the 3-D format, which is bound to out wear its return so quickly. My hopes and suggestions would be to leave this one alone. Let the original be!!!

What the f**k?!?! I don't mind a remake but a remake in 3D?!?! Step Up and Adventure to the Center of the Earth are "reasonably acceptable" to be in 3D I think "Final Destination 4" will be cool in 3D, but this?!?! Come on!

With a remake you really have to get an A list writer/director to take the reigns and give it a fresh perspective. This also makes it marketable, but if done wrong could ruin the movie for generations who haven't yet experienced it.

It's all about the money kids. If they throw a piece of crap together for $10 million (toss in a recognizable face or two plus the name recognizability of the title) and another $10 million for marketing etc, that's only $20 million they need to make to break even. After domestic box office, foreign box office, pay-per-view, cable rights and DVD sales, they make a $20 million profit. Even though it made maybe $8 million at the box office (a bomb), it still made a tidy profit. That's it, end of story. As Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park…everyone was so busy asking COULD we do this that nobody bothered to ask SHOULD we do this. I'll get off my soapbox now. FYI - I've read the script…it is crap.

I'm tired of people sticking 3D at the end of a movie title and thinking that this somehow makes the movie better.
If it sucked in 2D, it'll suck in 3D.

how can anyone be stupid enough to do a remake of a movie that was shit to begin with??? do they think that by recyclintg shit it will come out the second time as something other than shit???I thought there were people in Hollywood who were paid big $$$ to come up with NEW ideas for movies….and just what can you call remade shit??? is there a word for it??? maybe I can buy a monkey, put him in front of a keyboard and just sit back and wait a few weeks for him to type out a million dollar script….just a thought….
