April Fools Shenanigans Spread Across the Web
April 1, 2008
by Alex Billington
For whatever reason, I'm not up for playing the April Fools Day game and writing up a tricky / funny post just for the fun of it. Doesn't mean I don't like to have fun, but I'm just not all about trying to fool people with fake news. Instead, I thought I'd wrangle up all the good April Fools news articles around the web that I can find and send them your way. The least we can do is all get a kick out of the good stuff that the others have come up with! That photo above comes courtesy of Peter over at SlashFilm, who made that to represent the latest casting news - Jake Gyllenhaal will take over for Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man in the fourth film!
I'll update this as the day goes on, but here are all the good movie related April Fools posts I can find:
Google - Introducing Gmail Custom Time - Be on time. Every time. (Because we all use Gmail!)
SlashFilm - Superman vs. Spider-Man Film Announced
JoBlo - Jake Gyllenhaal will be replacing Tobey Maguire in the next Spider-Man movie
IESB - X-Files 2 Gets a Title - X-Files: Full Moon Rising
Rope of Silicon - POSTER: 'Art House Movie: There Will Be Farts'
Cinematical - BREAKING: Christian Bale and Brandon Routh Sign for 'Justice League!!!'
Bloody Disgusting - Steven Spielberg to Remake 'Duel' and Possibly 'Jaws'?!
Bloody Disgusting - Tyler Perry Moves on From Comedy to… Horror?!
ComicBookMovie.com - CAMEO: Wolverine to Make Appearance in Incredible Hulk Movie!
ComicBookMovie.com - Sea-Monkeys Movie Coming to the Big Screen
ScreenRant - Iron Man To Get Staggered, Late April Release Dates
Moviehole.net - Colin Farrell in Once remake
Moviehole.net - Harrison Ford to return as Han Solo!
IGN - Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer Premiere
The Movie Blog - Transformers 2 Bot Lineup Announced
FilmDrunk - Wolfman: Del Toro Out, Busey In
Giant Freakin Robot - Cloverfield Monster In Transformers 2!
I always love to think to myself, man, what kind of world would this be if some of these were actually true?! Superman vs Spider-Man, that sounds awesome, or a Once remake, or a Spielberg remake of Jaws!! Who doesn't love April Fools Day?

"Gmail utilizes an e-flux capacitor to resolve issues of causality."
Of course they do. Does this also allow you to send emails … Back to the Future?
"*The term "Every time" is used loosely here to represent the number 10."
I thought 'every time' always meant ten.

Thanx Alex! haha, good one Google. I fell for it!! the "back in time" shenanigans should have tipped me off, but I admit…the idea of placing an email when I SHOULD have, was pretty tempting. Maybe next year they can come out with one that undoes emails that you should NOT have sent: aka drunk tirades, mushy stuff to ex's and such, reccomending a crappy movie!….c'mon, you know you'd like that too!!

"Doesn't mean I don't like to have fun, but I'm just not all about trying to fool people with fake news."
I really appreciate it when someone takes the time to tell me what they're just not all about. This is because I'm just not all about knowing anything worth knowing about a person. I'm more into people's statements of Persona.

Ok, the Zelda trailer was amazing. Come on, of course Ganondorf looked like Blanka. What did you want them to do, hire ILM for their joke trailer? I thought it was pretty damn well done. So kudos to the IGN team behind it.
And yes, I fell for the Gmail one too. I'm not exactly the most responsible person alive, and I fell for it head over heels. Gotta love this day.

imdb has a listing for Zelda due in 2009 but maybe that page was created to go along with the joke?
