Confirmed: Indiana Jones 4 Just Over Two Hours
April 20, 2008

by Alex Billington
Last week we posted a rather interesting rumor regarding the running time of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull being around 140 minutes. Not only did it aggravate some people (read the comments), but apparently it was all just some overblown speculation. Producer Frank Marshall called Paramount publicity over the weekend in order to settle the rumor. The official running time is somewhere over two hours, so only somewhere around 120 minutes - which sounds a bit better than the originally rumored 140. It doesn't really matter anyway, but at least we're not leaving everyone hanging on a disproved rumor.
Apparently Jeffrey Wells, who made the announcement to begin with, said his source was composer John Williams, who had told him that the film was "seven reels long [with] each reel being 20 minutes." But Frank Marshall made sure to let everyone know that the real running time was just over two hours with credits and everything. A running time shouldn't really be any consideration for concern anyway, so this is just a topic that should blow over quickly. If anything, this has all left me that much more excited for Indiana Jones 4. Only a couple weeks left until the summer movie seasons kicks off then a few more until Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits theaters!

Who cares if the movie is good? I don't recall ever hearing anyone saying "man, this Godfather movie is sooo long! What was Coppola thinking?" Meanwhile 85 minutes will seem like and eternity for a movie that blows. A movie like Superhero Movie for instance.

Um, does it really matter? Next we'll be discussing the length of the credits; or the color or type of font used in the credits…

speaking of credits, 300 had some of the coolest credits i have ever seen, i love when movie makers add that little…coolness to the end, rather than just jumping into the black and white credits.
either way, I am excited about Indiana Jones! I agree, if the movie is good, who cares how LONG it is, but if it sucks, then its a different story.
