Second Wackness Trailer - Still Not a Great Trailer!

As much as I wished this new trailer looked really great to everyone who hasn't seen the movie yet, it really doesn't. We've been fighting against Sony Pictures Classics since the film was bought by them back during Sundance. The first teaser trailer was out a few weeks ago and now we have this full-length follow up trailer for the Sundance hit The Wackness. Despite how bad this may seem, you still have to hold out and understand it's a brilliant movie. At least you get to see some of the cool scenes, like when Shapiro dances on the sidewalk and the tiles light up. The least we can do is start warming you up to The Wackness through trailers like this so you'll be good to go by July anyway.
The Wackness is set in 1994 and centers on Luke Shapiro, a teenaged pot dealer, and his drug-addeled psychiatrist Dr. Squires. I'm not sure how they could better sell this film - maybe a red band trailer with scenes of weed being dealed or some that use profanity to make up the better jokes. We'll keep trying to tell you how great this movie really is as long as you keep listening!

The Wackness is both written and directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Jonathan Levine of All the Boys Love Mandy Lane previously. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and was bought by Sony Pictures Classics. Go read my 9/10 review of the film to understand why it's so damn good. The Wackness hits theaters this summer on July 3rd - be there or be square!

MUCH BETTER than the last one…I'm kinda intrigued now…sidewalks lighting up? Kinda…interesting…and not so much of a Sound of Thunder performance from Kingsley as I thought it would be.

This trailer does not do this movie justice! To be honest, if I had seen that trailer, I wouldn't have been interested. I was interested however, by Alex's review. Ben Kingsley is a genius in this and is also hilarious at times. The Wackness really is a great movie. See it if you can and give it a chance despite these poor trailers.

I always said that that Josh Peck kid had more of a presence as a dramatic actor than a comedic one. If he lands the appropriate roles and garners enough attention then he has potential to be a rival of Shia's, on both a talent and marketing level.

This is NOT a full length trailer. It is "teaser trailer #2." There might even be a few more teasers before the full length trailer is released.
