Who Will The Incredible Hulk Take On Next?

We're finally just about a week away from seeing the Hulk kick the crap out of the Abomination. After Marvel showed us how great they are at producing with Iron Man, they're unleashing The Incredible Hulk on us next. Normally I try and stay away from spoilers, but this one was too good to pass up and is a discussion point that's part of the film anyway. Like Iron Man, we can't help but get completely immersed in the Marvel universe, and this time the follow-up to Abomination sounds just as intense. Director Louis Leterrier revealed in a recent interview just a few details on who we can expect to see rise to power in the sequel. Here's a hint: it's not Maestro or Wendigo or The Illuminati.
Leterrier mentions very briefly in this interview video over at Comics2Film that the film sets up other villains like Samuel Sterns. In this film, Sterns is actually played by Tim Blake Nelson (as seen in the photo above) and eventually becomes the supervillain The Leader in radioactive accident involving gamma radiation. I'd suggest you check out the video, as it's pretty enjoyable to watch. I wish I had the opportunity to interview Leterrier, because he looks just like a cheery and smart guy. That interview is actually fun to watch and my favorite part is when he says to the guy "do YOU plan to make Hulk a franchise?" Anyway, let's get back to The Leader!
A high school dropout, Sterns worked for a chemical research plant in a menial capacity. While moving radioactive materials into an underground storage area, some of the radioactive materials exploded, bombarding Sterns with gamma radiation. Sterns recovered, but found that the radiation had changed him from an ordinary human into a green-skinned, super-intelligent criminal with an oversized brain housed in a towering cranium. He embarked on various ambitious schemes, with the Hulk as his primary nemesis, consistently backed by a self-constructed army of super-strong, virtually invulnerable, plastic Humanoids. I'm sure we're all quite familiar with Marvel's official line-up through 2011, which includes Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and eventually The Avengers in July of 2011. Absent from that list, however, is an Incredible Hulk sequel. Obviously that's because Universal has no clue how well this new Hulk might do and thus is waiting to see if they've struck box office gold with this new big green guy. And if enough people turn out, we might see Hulk battle The Leader before eventually joining up with The Avengers. Wouldn't that be one hell of a future?

There's nothing to say that Leader wouldn't pit Hulk against all sorts of 'humanoid' versions of familiar characters, like the Thing, Juggernaut, etc.
He's already done it several times in the Comics!
I think there's actually alot of potential with his character, on the screen. Tim Blake Nelson's yet another top notch actor, and the idea of his megalomania swelling to Gamma Irradiated proportions could get pretty wicked…

I think the Leader would come off as fake-looking and stupid; some marvel characters aren't made to be translated to the big screen- look at Galactus.

i really hope the incredible hulk is well incredible. To be honest no.3, i highly doubt the leader would look stupid. Just look at abomination, big ,strong and looks very awesome. dont doubt anything yet.

There are different designs- this drawing isn't perhaps the best example.
Sal Buscema's leader was good, w/ the eyebrows in proportion to the head swelling.
Todd Mcfarlane's is more an outward mutated brain-look, and later on Angel Medina et.al added veins on his forehead, etc.
It also isn't always that tall. I think adding 3/4 a head height at the top about does it.
Buscema, Gil Kane, these guys all got it right. And he'd wear better suits than that, too.
Like 2 said- there's plenty of room for development w/ Hulk's villains, b/c in their original incarnations they're pretty 2-dimensional. Later they had him almost like a cult leader/savior to gamma irradiated beings, which is another interesting twist.
The Ultimate Human storyline had his head swell radially, propped up by a brace, and kept a beige skin color. His motivation having more to do w/ perfecting himself as a specimen of maximum intelligence than controlling the world.
But one kind of goes hand in hand w/ the other, I'd expect.
I'd just be looking forward to his armies of humanoids & mind-controlled creatures- not to mention Robots (which Iron Proved we can have realistic rendering of for Hulk to tear apart!). Leader pits them all as an arsenal against the Hulk ad nauseum, utterly insulted that something so lacking in intellect could be so friggin' Powerful!
Hulk always comes out on top, of course. But Leader can give him a run for his money.

I would love to see this movie do reall well. I'll be there opening night wearing my Iron Man T-shirt, hehehe. I'd love even more to see the Hulk and Ed Norton get a sequel then be put into the Avengers.

I'm glad there foreshadowing the next villains in the movie. For the Leader he doesn't really look like he would go really well with going to live action but ill just have to wait and see.

Hey I think it would be cool if Iron man made an appearance and hulk and Iron man end up fighting the leader and abomination! Thats just my opinion.
