Go Vote for Harvey Dent! The Dark Knight Viral Returns!
June 9, 2008
by Alex Billington
Just in time for the summer movie season to really pick up, The Dark Knight's brilliant viral marketing game has returned! There are numerous updates to various websites that part of the Gotham City universe, members of Joker's army received new text messages, and best of all - the polls are open! You can now go and vote for Harvey Dent in the official Gotham City election. Even if you never received a voter's registration card earlier in the year, you can still register and vote! I think it's time we actually get Harvey Dent elected as the new Gotham City District Attorney. Who's with me?!
Everyone who registered on Harvey Dent's site ibelieveinharveydent.com previously should have received a campaign update e-mail today. It mentions: "Harvey Dent has committed himself to lead the charge to take back our city, face down the criminal and corrupt and restore hope for our future. Now, we need your help. We need to get out the vote!. And we need you to vote yourself." Yep - that mean it's officially time to vote in the Gotham City election!
Head over to GothamElectionBoard.com to register and vote. Voting is open from June 9th to June 12th. If you haven't previously registered, no problem, all you need to do is click on "Register To Vote" and fill out the form, confirm your e-mail address, then make your choices - it's that easy! Hopefully you're voting for Harvey Dent for District Attorney - or else you're a traitor. As for the other choices for other positions and amendments, that's entirely up to you and what you feel is best for Gotham City.
Additionally, members of Joker's Army who all have cell phones received text messages today. The first stated "Clowns, are you ready for some laughs? (y/n)" When replied yes, the second message sent back was "You put a smile on my face. Hope you're not superstitious." We don't have any further updates from this text message yet but will be sure to let you know what we hear!
Lastly, numerous Gotham City websites have been updated. In addition to the Gotham Election Board site that we mentioned previously, the following have been updated as of today: GothamPolice.com, GothamCityRail.com, MaidenAvenueReport.com, CitizensforBatman.org. There is also a major update on GothamCableNews.com. The site is now a great portal for those interested in following the viral campaign. There are links and news stories and plenty more.
We don't have any other updates at the moment, but you can expect The Dark Knight's viral game to kick into very high gear as we lead into the last few weeks before the movie hits theaters. The results of the election will be posted on June 13th, which we can guess will also be the launch of something else exciting. Stay tuned for much more!

Friday is gonna be a big day. Election results and Joker games. Maybe we will get the rumored 4th trailer and the final poster, or at least the poster?

I voted…. I hope this is leading us to The Dark Knight prequel. It is going to be on the Blue-Ray Special Edition Batman Begins that comes out at the beginning of July. It would be a great marketing tool to let people see the first five minutes of the movie and even get those that are not 100% sold hyped!
