Hulk Director Louis Leterrier to Helm Strays

Hot off his $54.5 million opening weekend for The Incredible Hulk, French director Louis Leterrier will next trade in his monster-inducing gamma radiation for a more conventional kind in a new project titled Strays. No start date for the project has been announced just yet, but we do know that the story is described as an "eco action thriller" and surrounds a "group of young consultants who, while on a business trip to Russia, mysteriously wake up in an abandoned, radioactive city. They're then forced to struggle for survival, with a number of deadly obstacles blocking the way to freedom." Considering the success of The Incredible Hulk and the welcomed talk of additional films, I wonder if this news might prompt Marvel to lock down Leterrier for further work.
Well, that might be a bit generous. Leterrier isn't the most in-demand of directors out there just yet. Prior to Hulk he only helmed The Transporter and its lackluster sequel and the odd-ball thriller Unleashed. But Leterrier is starting to pick up some momentum. I wouldn't be surprised if the next two years prove pretty busy for the French director. For Strays, I can see Leterrier bringing some great action and chase sensibilities to the project, though I doubt the consultants will be driving a shiny black Audi out of the contaminated city. Leterrier has also proven more than capable with big-budget actioners, so you know Strays will pack one hell of a punch.
I'll have to wait for further details on the film before I get really excited. If you see a slight horror tinge to the project, then that's probably on purpose - Michael Ross (Turistas) is writing the script. And I suppose with the radiation involved, those "deadly obstacles" could very well be mutated creatures. Perhaps Leterrier will bring to bear his experience as a production assistant on 1997's Alien: Resurrection. Is Leterrier registering on folks radar like he is on mine? With the guy's upfront nature and growing resume, he's definitely becoming one of my faves.

I agree. He's quickly becoming a household name. I really hope Marvel locks him in for a "Hulk" sequel if there is going to be one (more than likely?). Leterrier rocks and he's done the "Hulk" character justice and reinvigorated interest in the flick. ***I sure hope Marvel reaches a deal with Favreau too.

loved the way he went with the hulk and im looking forward to his next movie. Lets hope Michael Ross can give us a good script, unlike his last project.
