Pierce Brosnan and Nic Cage

The last I remember, I thought Roman Polanski was making his disaster epic titled Pompeii. But Polanski eventually left that project and now he's already started casting his next film, The Ghost. Adapted from Robert Harris' novel of the same name, the story is about a ghostwriter hired to write the memoirs of an ex-Prime Minister. MTV has learned that both Pierce Brosnan and Nicolas Cage have joined the film. Brosnan will play the British Prime Minister Adam Lang and Cage will play the currently unnamed ghostwriter. The film is actually a thriller that takes a turn when the ghostwriter learns details about a scandal which threatens to engulf the ex-Prime Minister. Can Brosnan and Cage pull it off?

Robert Harris' The GhostPolanski is writing The Ghost himself, with the assistance of Robert Harris. Polanski explain that he has "been looking for a political thriller to direct for some time, and The Ghost could not be more perfect. Robert has constructed a novel with such suspense, it is hard to put it down." Harris also wrote the book that Polanski's Pompeii was going to be based off of, but this is another one of his British thrillers. The story was partially inspired by Tony Blair, with whom Harris was once friends with. The book has been referred to as "one of the most politically informed novels of the year" and will hit shelves in August. You can pre-order a copy on Amazon.com.

Brosnan I like, in the right roles, but Cage I don't. He hasn't yet got himself back on the right track yet. And I'm not sure a Roman Polanski political thriller is going to be the venue for his return. I think I'm interested in this project more for its politics than its story and relationship between the ghostwriter and Prime Minister. Polanski still won't step foot inside of the US, so I'm wondering if he has a bit of disdain for the States and if it will show up in this film. At the very least we can expect a solid suspense film that will hopefully captivate us to the end. And it will truly be a question of whether Brosnan and Cage can pull it off.

Update: Actress Tilda Swinton also joins the film as the wife of the former Prime Minister, whose marriage is falling apart. The film will start production this September in Europe.

Can anyone tell me why Nicolas Cage still gets work as an actor? Anyone? Am I the only one who thinks that he is one of the most uninteresting actors working today, and also one of the worst? I can't stand the guy, and I don't know anyone personally who consider themselves anything remotely close to a fan of his. Am I missing something?

In the article the authors name is Richard Harris, on the photo it is Robert Harris. Thought you might want to correct it.

brosnan will be a fit, but cage needs to go back and do another coen brothers comedy, i think that might save whats left of his career, and he needs to stop taking roles where the character has long hair, i refuse to watch any such movie it just looks so bad its distracting

How does Cage get in so many movies these days as the lead, he is no good he is washed up please just let him die for find him the right role. As for Brosnan i dont mind him and seems like a good fit for his role. Should be a okay movie could have been a lot better if someone else was casted besides Cage.
