Must Watch: Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla Full Trailer
June 25, 2008
Source: Empire
by Alex Billington
The first trailer for Guy Ritchie's next British gangster film titled RocknRolla has finally arrived. I must say, this looks like a brilliant return to form. Ritchie hasn't had anything pack a punch like this since Snatch came out in 2001. Courtesy of Empire, we've got the very first international trailer for the film. I've been looking forward to this for a while and it delivers! This is already a perfect introduction to a film that I feel may quickly show up on the top of my best of list at the end of the year. RocknRolla features an incredible cast that includes Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Jeremy Piven, Thandie Newton, Idris Elba, Ludacris, and Gemma Arterton. Has Ritchie finally returned to form with RocknRolla?
Watch the first trailer for RocknRolla:
RocknRolla is both written and directed by British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Revolver previously. Unlike his previously films, this one has been under a studio, Warner Brothers, from the very start. RocknRolla hit theaters everywhere on October 31st.

Swept Away was a very useful film. It helped put the last nails in the coffin of Madonna's acting career!
Meanwhile this film has a scene where Thandie Newton licks cream off her finger. My prediction: instant classic! I now know what I'll be doing the first weekend in November. Can't go opening night, there's trick-or-treating to be done.

Alex… you are on glue. That does NOT look awesome. It looks forced, contrived and the worst sin of all derivative of his own fucking movies.
the only thing it has going for it is its poster… which I will gladly hang next to my Showgirls poster in my downstairs bathroom..where I hang all my shitty films posters.
P.S
Alex.. despite the smell….your vagina is still tight and nicely trimmed.

I know I'm in the minority but I literally could not sit through Snatch. I did get as far as 1 hour & 15 minutes before I couldn't take any more & had to call it quits. Brad Pitts crazy Irish character was, in my opinion, the only reason to watch b/c he was hilarious. This actually looks better but we'll see.

@Sinner…
nah., you're mostly right. BP was the best part of Snatch.
But Brick top is a close second…He 100% owned as one of the top 10 evil/badass motherfucker characters of all time.

Alex you ignorant slut.
Returning to form is just another way of saying "the best he could do is redo what he was successful at"… If you're honestly trying to tell me that this film is anything but a massive re write of both his most successful films melded into one new film… Then I'm sorry but you need to be shot in the head, and while you are in a coma you are raped by truck drivers. There is nothing unique about Richie's films, beyond the fact he is he is the most successful Tarantino fanboy.
I still love you Alex… your kisses are tender and you are a cheap drunk.

Trailer looks awesome, I will definitely check it out.
In other things. did anyone notice the "Dark Castle" logo at the start of the trailer? It's kind of weird for a production company that has been making only horror films for nearly a decade to suddenly switch to other genres.

He goes back to what he was sucsessful with after people dident like Revolver. You do the safe Film then the Guttsy film, which is how it goes. Johnny, Your sad, get your own Moive Fourm then. You guys dident Like his last move so you go back to the same style of complaining funny how that works hu. You want them to try something new then when they do you shit on it like you could do better, Which ya cant. Then when he tryes to make sure he has the cash flow to try again you bust his balls. Get over it, Film looks Awesome. When you of you pull off a string of completlly diffrent films and win awards/ praise for them all You will have room to degrade other actors and directors.

What's with all the hatred boys and girls?
The trailer looks great, Jeremy Piven is a hero and Alex's snatch is perfectly servicable! (could be worse could have teeth in it)
And people criticizing Richie for making another gangster film is like criticizing Del Toro for only making fantasy or Scorsese for making another Mafia flick or Pacino for always shouting in his movies. He's doing what he's good at, playing to his strengths, would you rather he tried to branch out and try making another romantic comedy with his wife? because we all know where that went!
I really hope this is a return for him because it's sad when we lose another great filmmaker up their own arse (paging Mr Shyamalan). Now all we need is for Richard Kelly to sort himself out and all will be right with the world

He's making the movies he wants to make. If you don't like it, don't watch it, or make your own movie.

Firstly although Revolver was overall a bit of a mess…..it did have some good solid moments and it had a nice style to it…i just feel it took itself too seriously and it had non of the stand out characters or charm of either Lock Stock.. or Snatch. Now an actor and good friend of mine called Ade who played "Tyrone" the getaway driver in "Snatch" was telling me at least a year ago that Guy Ritchie had shown him the script for Rock'n'rolla and he said it was razor sharp and infact on paper should be even better than both the directors previous gangster cassics! Some great casting in Gerard Butler and Thandie Newton plus a range of quality roles for some other familiar brit faces should make this a must see when it arrives in the next few months.

Oh, by the way Revolver is not for eveyone, only those who are good at mind cluster fucks, I understood it, completely even my 47 year old Father understood the plot. RockNnRolla will be in the same genera as Lock Stock and Snatch, so don't be expecting anything like Revolver. ;>
