My Name Is Bruce Finally Hitting Theaters in October!
June 25, 2008
by Alex Billington
Or so they say… The wait for Bruce Campbell's My Name Is Bruce has been excruciatingly long, almost as bad as sitting through endless delays for the next Grand Theft Auto game. It might actually be the one movie that we've covered for the longest amount of time - our first post about it was in December of 2006! Thankfully STYD caught up with Dark Horse Comics' Mike Richardson who told them that the film will finally hit theaters sometime in October. Given news like this has been mentioned numerous times before, I'm not going to be convinced until I actually walk into a theater myself and watch My Name Is Bruce. Hopefully this October that dream will come true!
Richardson also told them that they actually got more money to go back and beef up the film, which somewhat explains the delays. I'm not sure this is a good idea, but who knows, maybe we'll get even more over-the-top Bruce Campbell action and I'm always up for plenty more helpings of that!
"Some people maybe thought the film fell out or that there was something wrong with it," Richardson says, touching on Bruce's slow journey getting before wide audiences. "We did our shoot, put it in the can and the studio that financed it liked it so much they gave us more money to do a second shoot. We beefed it up so it could go into the theaters."
Additionally, Richardson said they're already working on a sequel titled My Name is Still Bruce. Sounds good, but wait, don't we need to see the first film before we get a sequel?! Maybe this will end up like Bruce Campbell's Evil Dead movies, where the second one turns out better than the first anyway. We debuted a trailer for My Name Is Bruce last December and although it didn't look like anything amazing, I'm still very excited to eventually see it. Campbell will always get an extra special mention for anything he's in because he'll always be the greatest B-movie actor ever! Will you see My Name is Still Bruce?

After he made Man with the Screaming Brain (2005) in Bulgaria I just lost any hope in him ….
But now he is coming back again directing his movie and as I see 7.7/10 (2,495 votes) it mean at least the movie has been released at least before (6 months -1 year ) …. and we will see if it is 7.7/10…
the same problem happen to him for releasing the movie in cinemas …as Al Pacino's movie "88 minutes" it take more than a year to release it in cinemas … they sent me the DVD release before 4-5 months and now it is in the cinemas…
That is what will happen when you make a movie in Bulgaria …

Again to not understand me wrong :
Man with the Screaming Brain (2005) was made in Bulgaria not this one ….but the sickness will follow you even after you finish making the movie in Bulgaria ….
Hope Bruce find a way to get out from it …and we will see if he is not infected with the virus "Bulgaria" until now

Met him at one of his book signings and afterwards he did a Q/A in front of The Man with the Screaming Brain. Great guy. Been wanting to see this forever.

He said he will be touring with this film at certain locations. You can see the panel from comic-con on you tube under my videos (imecoli) or search "Bruce campbell comic-com 2008" (3 parts) I also have the trailer posted on youtube.
its funny, he even mentions making a film in Bulgaria in the trailer.

About time!!! How long have we been waiting for this? Since 2006?
Sure Bruce has been in some bad films - hell I should know - I actually went to see the steaming pile of #&@% that was Congo simply because I heard he was in it (you know it's bad when a brief appearance in a film is it's only light). The fact remains that Bruce is a great entertainer and most of what he does is at least that entertaining. From what I've seen of My Name Is Bruce it should at least have the fans laughing.
It'll be worth it alone for the "Hooch for the pooch" line!

Hey, if you want great art go to an art gallery .You want entertainment? Get in line behind when this does come out.It might not be Gone With the Wind but most people didn't get a lot of laughs out of that one.

Be sure to check out Grace Thorsen who plays Bruce's love interest. She is a great talent. I got to work with her on her first movie, Sixes and the One Eyed King. She is going places. Mark my words!
