Happy 4th of July - Enjoy the Summer!
July 4, 2008
by Alex Billington
From all of us here at FirstShowing.net, we hope you have a wonderful 4th of July! If you're not from the US, then enjoy the day anyway! We're nearly halfway through the entire year and halfway through the summer. Not only is this a perfect time to reflect on the great films we've seen so far, but it's also exciting to look forward to the many more great films yet to come. And as is always the case, this time of the summer always puts me in the mood for summer classics like Independence Day, The Sandlot, Jaws, and Men in Black. Not much has changed since we ran our Best 4th of July Openings retrospective last year, since Hancock is the latest addition to that list. We certainly hope you enjoy the long weekend!
If there is one request I have of everyone this weekend, it's to kick back, relax, and enjoy a good summer film with friends. I would suggest The Wackness, if you have the chance to see it, because it's truly this year's absolutely perfect summer flick. But if you want to say home and watch something that will leave you with a smile on your face and remind you why each summer is so amazing, I'd suggest you check out anything on Cinematical's Favorite Summertime Movies or our own list of the Best 4th of July Openings Ever. There are so many good movies that I wish I had even more time to enjoy them all. Enjoy!
