Thom Beers Bringing Chopper Zombie to the Big Screen!

Executive producer Thom Beers, who is credited for creating the incredibly successful Discovery channel shows "Deadliest Catch," "Monster Garage," and "Ice Road Truckers", is producing his first feature film, titled Chopper Zombie. Check out this concept: a motorcycle builder refuses to sell his formula for a new superfuel to a dangerous corporation; when a team of thugs drowns him in his own toxic creation, he rises from the dead with a score to settle. Yes, this is a zombie flick with motorcycles and it sounds badass. The film is based on a graphic novel being published by Devil's Due that will debuting at Comic-Con next week. While the comic is being written by Todd Livingston and drawn by Scott Keating, no writer or director has been announced yet for the film. I don't even know if this comic is any good - but this sounds awesome.
Thom Beers commented on his interest in this project. "We've been doing series like 'Biker Build-Off' and 'Monster Garage' because I love choppers. My son Max, who's ten, loves zombies. He told me that choppers and zombies go together - so, we gotta do it! Choppers and zombies. Creating a graphic novel and taking it right into a feature is a truly awesome experience, and wait until you see this chopper at Comic-Con." Interesting to hear, but if it works out and turns out awesome, then why not? You can already check out a preview and some more information over on the comic's official website: chopperzombie.com.
I've personally got a soft spot for zombie films, especially ones with new and original concepts. Zombies have already been involved in any and everything, from malls to video games, but never has there been a combination like this (as far as I know?). Although the concept, as described above, sounds kind of odd, I've got a good feeling about this. They just need to hire Larry Bishop, who wrote, directed, and starred in Hell Ride, to write and direct this, too. That way Chopper Zombie has the grindhouse biker flick feel. I don't know why I'm so interested in this, but I'm definitely going to pick up a copy of the comic at Comic-Con and talk with them about this project. Anyone else excited for Chopper Zombie?

Sure, why not. I just hope they go all the way with the concept. Looking at the comic pages this needs to be a movie with loud motorcycle action, gore, badass goons, heavy metal soundtrack, and hot chicks…a really sleazy exploitation film. Hard R. Don't make the live action Spawn movie, more The Crow, but less gothic.

Hopefully they have some good, old fashioned, grind-house style fun with this one. It might actually wind up being fantastic if they do!
