Two New Epic Posters for The Day the Earth Stood Still!

Fox is really kicking our ass with posters today! Not only did they debut two fantastic posters for Max Payne and a poster for Jennifer's Body, but they've finished up the evening with two epic posters for The Day the Earth Stood Still. After I saw the two Max Payne posters, I thought that nothing else could top either of them - I was wrong. We've seen the poster on the left before (as a banner), but seeing it in high res on a poster looks a lot better. Both of these are very impressive - they really set the tone and the scale for this remake perfectly. I really enjoyed the teaser trailer and hope that this turns as good as everything looks. As with Max Payne as well, I'm concerned that it won't live up to the hype. Anyone else agree?
I really love Fox's choice to release two separate posters for each movie. It's a great way of letting fans choose what they like most without pushing anything on them. If you're not a fan of the poster on the left, you may love the poster with Gort on the right. Personally, I'm a big fan of both of these epic posters.
The Day the Earth Stood Still is directed by Scott Derrickson, of only The Exorcism of Emily Rose previously, with a script written by screenwriter David Scarpa, of only The Last Castle previously. There are a lot of fresh creative minds involved in this project who haven't yet had a lot of experience. The film is a remake of Robert Wise's 1951 sci-fi classic of the same name. Fox is releasing the re-imagined The Day the Earth Stood Still on December 12th later this year.

Now, these posters are awesome! The ones for "Max Payne" are good too but I bet the Keanu Reeves flick will be huge. For some reason every time I see "Max Payne" advertising I can't help but think about "Hitman" which was ok but the aspect that I really enjoyed was Olga Kurylenko!

I had to click the poster on the left to see it in larger detail. There is a lot going on there. I love it. It feels so sci-fi yet ominous. It's a surprisingly dark and menacing poster for a Christmas film. You expect something fluffy like the Yes Man poster for that time of year, but maybe the contrast lets it stand out.

Great posters, really epic. The Gort one is fantastic and I am very anxious about their panel at Comic Con. Hope they show new footage of the movie.

I love the poster on the left, like Dee said, it has a lot of detail and makes some people wonder what the movie is going to be about. I have trust in Keanu Reeves, and i hope that this remake will do the original justice, i can see this movie being big either way like War of The Worlds <_<

Gort is the best robot character next to Robbie from Forbidden Planet, R2D2 from Star Wars. I know that Im missing a few other characters but hey…

Why is fox making a remake of this movie? And why is Keanu Reeves of all people in it? I hate the fact that they're doing this.
Fox go find some of your own ideas and leave classic movies alone!
Though I will admit that I do like the posters for it.
People, go rent the original. See that, and experience what suspense in Sci fi used to be. If you still want to see this remake, then fine. But go appreciate the original first.

Keanu Reeves is one of the worst actors in the business. Hollywoods running out of ideas. Now together we have a terrible remake with a terrible actor. Sitting through this film would in actuality feel like the end of the world

Well Nick, you will sit through it if you want. No one will miss the "anti-remake GESTAPO" in the theaters, that's for sure. You guys are TIRING with this eternal bruwaha about the movie. Get a life! It looks promising and Keanu Reeves has the career you guys probably dream in having 1% in your lifetime!

the one on the left looks epic and think its a well put together poster im liking it.
Dont like the right one to much dont know just doesn't have the same great look as the left side.
Im glad Fox is putting some effort into these movies with there posters.

The footage shown for The Day The Earth Stood Still was really quite good.
*SPOILER*
The scene from the trailer where Klaatu is interrogated was shown (in full I think, unless they showed us an abridged version). Klaatu's alien power is demonstrated, and man was it impressive.

I don't think that it won't live up to the hype, mainy because nobody seems really excited for it. I mean I am to a degree, but most people here are ragging on it, so it doesn't have that much to live up to. I think it will exceed people's expectations; Keanu does great as an alien because he can act as he usually does, without much facial expression, completely stone faced, and it fits this role perfectly.
Max Payne did not look that good to me. Besides the new angle the creators took on slo-mo there is nothing interesting about this movie to me. The footage they showed (besides bullet time) was unimpressive.

The one on the left reminds me of a few well known posters and is nothing new to me. *tsk* I don't like the other one. Maybe I will like it after I see Gort. I love the old B movie posters the best. You can see everything really well, even if they are drawn and painted.

Am I the only one who loves the Gort poster more…? That to me harken's back to the 1951 original without giving too much away as well as giving a sense of pending doom…
Love'em both, but perfer the Gort one best…
