Worth Watching - Aug 3: New Trailer for Andrew Fleming's Hamlet 2
August 3, 2008
by Alex Billington
Focus Features has released another trailer for Hamlet 2, due out later this month. I'm not sure whether I'm a fan of this new trailer, but considering we haven't featured a trailer for Hamlet 2 since April when the red band one came out, I think it's worth mentioning. If you're still skeptical about this film, all of the quotes in the trailer are from legitamate sources - most of them loved it, a few hated it, but overall it had a generally positive response at Sundance. In fact, it actually has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment, which is quite a good sign that this isn't as stupid as the trailer makes it look. This movie is funny as hell and quirky, but one of my favorite comedies this year - so please give it a chance!

For more info on the film, head to the official website: hamlet2.com.
Hamlet 2 is co-written and directed by Andrew Fleming of The Craft, Dick, and Nancy Drew. The screenplay was also penned primarily by Pam Brady of South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut, Team America: World Police, and Hot Rod. Focus Features bought Hamlet 2 after its debuted at the Sundance Film Festival for an estimated $10 million. The film will hit theaters this summer on August 22nd.

I'd heard so much good press about this movie from Sundance, and then I saw the trailer at Comic-Con.
Looked freaking stupid. I couldn't believe it.
Either the movie is retarded or the trailer for it just really sucks.

I don't know what to think. The humor in the trailers makes it look like they are trying too hard to be funny. Looks pretty stupid to me, but hell, I may be proven wrong

The only good line: "I'm suing everybody!"
Everything I've seen from this film has struck me as remarkably unfunny. I can't understand what the buzz is about.

It is a BRILLIANT FILM… This trailer is terrible for the movie.. it is an absolute blast… Saw it back at ShoWest.. give it a chance and right this trailer off as a terrible attempt to bottle a movie into a clean package… they failed. Doesn't do the movie justice

I'm getting sick of Rock Me Sexy Jesus. It's not funny.. HAHA OH JESUS AND SEX HOW HILARIOUS
It's a bad sign when you already see t-shirts everywhere with the slogan Rock Me Sexy Jesus and the movie isn't even OUT yet..
that said, I bet there will be some laughs to be had here and I'm just being cautiously pessimistic haha.
