Comedian and Actor Bernie Mac Has Died

by Alex Billington
This is truly a tragic year! Comedian and actor Bernie Mac died earlier today at the age of 50. He had been hospitalized earlier this week due to pneumonia and unfortunately his condition worsened. He is survived by Rhonda, his wife of 30 years, and their daughter Je'Niece. In addition to his stand-up comedy, Bernie Mac has appeared in everything from Friday to Booty Call as well as Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's trilogy and most recently Michael Bay's Transformers. Above all, "The Bernie Mac Show" on Fox was his most highly regarded work that has won numerous awards and really put him on the map. He will be missed.
Bernie Mac's full filmography also includes Mo' Money, Who's the Man?, How to Be a Player, Life, Head of State, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Bad Santa, Mr 3000, Guess Who, and Pride. He had already finished shooting three upcoming films: Old Dogs, the sequel to Wild Hogs, as well as Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Malcolm Lee's Soul Men. His incredibly unique comedy and extremely recognizable voice is what made him so memorable. We leave you with this quote from Bernie Mac himself: "I'm not a star, and I don't want to be a star. Stars fall. I'm an ordinary guy with an extraordinary job."

Yeah, its always tragic when a comedian dies. Because a comedian can really get into your heart. I remember when mitch hedberg died, and most recently Carlin, this has been a horrible year so far.

I was surprised to see how effected I was by his death. Now, not to be an ass hole, but I never liked his show and I couldn't sit through any of his stage performances, but there are a few memorable roles that he played that I loved and held dear to me. I was shocked to learn that he had died, it was just so out of nowhere. He's only 50 for fucks sake.
anyway, rest in peace Bern. I'm sure if they make an Oceans 14 they'll mention you.

He was the one comedian that I just sat around waiting to live in concert. That day now will never come. God bless his family, and Bernie may you bless them with your comedy up in Heaven as you have done for so many of us here on Earth. RIP

old dogs is not the sequel to wild hogs, but thats besides the point.
i always wondered why more actors didn't fall victim to suicide becuase of stress, but to be lost becuase of pneumonia, well, that's just a shame. he was truly a king of comedy

What a way to wake up. My favourite comedian, no longer here on earth but only in spirit. I wish that I could've met him. I remember watching CW11 every single friday night at 1 am in the morning, watching the bernie mac show. It's a show that you could never stop watching. Even though the shows were re-runs, I still loved watching them. It was always routine. It's so hard to think about him no longer alive. I feel so lost. Even though I didn't know him well, his death feels like I have lost my best friend or a family member. It's like loosing a friend that made you laugh when u were so stressed out or sad about things. I will never forget him. It's because of him, I want to go into acting, preferably comedy because I love to make people laugh. For me its not about the fame or the money, its about making people laugh and that's the reward itself. I am sure that's the way Bernie Mac thought too! MAY BERNIE MAC REST IN PEACE FOR ETERNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEE YOU ON THE OTHERSIDE BERNIE!!!!!!!!!!!! He always said "WHO U WIT?" Well now, he's with god and most importantly at peace. No worries, and no pain.
Now, I wonder if god took Bernie Mac because he wanted him to do stand-up comedy in heaven, LOL!!!!! Just kiddin (we all now that Mac-Man was a gift from god)

Wow, real classy Josh. You might not have been a big fan, but regardless of his professional accomplishments, the man died young and left a family. Making that kind of comment really shows what an asshole you are.

I loved Bernie Mac. It's a shame his film work never truly showed what a true talent he was. His standup and his television show are much better representations of his range.
