Worth Watching - Aug 8: International Fireflies in the Garden Trailer
August 9, 2008
by Alex Billington
The first international trailer for Fireflies in the Garden has been discovered online. Unfortunately I agree with Cinematical, this isn't the greatest trailer, but I feel like I can see through it to a better film within. If you thought the ensemble cast for Winged Creatures was impressive, what until you hear the line-up in this: Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ioan Gruffudd, and even everyone's favorite cheerleader, Hayden Panettiere. Seeing trailers like this really gets me in the mood for the upcoming film festival and Oscar season. Fireflies in the Garden will definitely be on my list of films to see. However, I've got to wonder, are ensemble dramas the new big thing?
Watch the international trailer for Fireflies in the Garden:
Fireflies in the Garden is both written and directed by up-and-coming Dennis Lee, of only Jesus Henry Christ previously. The film first premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year and is already playing in theaters across Europe. Remarkably, the film doesn't even have a US distributor yet, although we can expect it to be picked up by someone by the year's end, if not earlier. You can expect Fireflies in the Garden to hit theaters sometime in late 2008 or early 2009.

Whoa. Looks like an exceptional drama. All these actors seem to have found the roles they were looking for, good casting. God damn that Hayden Panteniere is fucking gorgeous!

It has ryan reynolds in it Ill see it for sure. He is one of the most underrated actors in hollywood and his career is only gonna go up. I also like how he does mainstream and independent films and he varies his roles like Johnny depp does.

Looks really good, but the trailer was too sappy. With a cast like that how wasn't this picked up yet?

Eh … I … dunno … the older I get the less I care to spend 90 minutes enveloped in angst. Still, can't beat the cast. Pretty solid.
