Directors Confirm Thomas Jane Isn't Jonah Hex

Sorry to break the news to ya Thomas, but you didn't make it in as Jonah Hex. Remember that big publicity stunt a while back where Thomas Jane had his personal make-up guy dress him up like Jonah Hex and snap a few shots to put in the hands of the filmmakers? It didn't work. An update from SlashFilm via The Movie Blog Uncut confirms that Jane isn't the one they wanted. Directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor were on the latest episode and mentioned that: "He's a great guy… But we don't see the guy as Jonah Hex, to be quite honest with you. But we like him." Let's just hope they can find a suitable alternative, because Jane did look pretty damn badass as Hex and I can't think of anyone else better.
Neveldine later mentioned that "it was a really huge compliment to us" that Jane made that photo, and that "we'll have him in one of our movies." But unfortunately he's not the right choice for Hex. Obviously this is their movie to make, but I'm very curious who they do have in mind if it's not Thomas Jane. Casting isn't really starting for a few more months since the two are still finishing Crank 2: High Voltage, but now I have no clue who they'd pick. Nathan Fillion is the only actor left that I think would be a perfect fit. The character of Hex is described as "a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter" from DC Comics' westerns, and Fillion could fit that bill. Who else do you think would be right for the role?

Gotta give points to Jane for chasing down the job. It's a hell of a photo.
But if not Jane, who?
Brian Denehey 20 years ago might have been good! ;D

No Jane? But you think Fillion could fit the bill… no way.
It's a shame Jane didn't get the part, because he sounds exactly like how they want the character. Fillion couldn't do it because he doesn't come across as a hardened, rugged gunslinger like Jane does… even in Serenity. He's a bit too soft under the mark for playing this kind of character, as much as I like the guy.
Real shame…

I didn't see this happening for Tom at all. Did Tom really think he was going to get the part by doing something that fucking stupid?????
Nathan Fillion…. don't be any idiot. You can do better than that.

I don't have a clue who this character is, but I must say one thing. Thomas Jane did the voice of Colton White in the game, Gun, and was totally convinceing as a hard-ass, fur trading gun slinger. Voice wise.

That's not good enough at all. There are dozens of voice actors who have a hard-ass voice. The fact that Tom doesn't look like this character just like he didn't look like the Punisher should be a reason why he should not get this role.
What Tom did, dressing up like this character (very dumb) is almost like what actress Sean Young did when she wanted to be Catwoman.
