Bruce Springsteen's Song in Darren Aronofsky's Wrestler

What better way to celebrate Labor Day and the end of the summer than a Bruce Springsteen song, maybe "Born in the USA" or "Streets of Philadelphia". In related news, Darren Aronofsky has confirmed via his blog that the legendary musician has written a song specifically for his upcoming film The Wrestler. We first saw this news in Anne Thompson's update today, where she mentions that the film is debuting concurrently in both Venice and Toronto because they're waiting for Springsteen to finish up the song. Although it's odd to say this, I think this news definitely kicks The Wrestler up another notch. Awards Daily is even claiming that this "will be one of the surefire Best Song nominees" in next year's Oscar.
Aronofsky says on his blog that the song is titled "The Wrestler" and is a wonderful acoustic piece. It makes him "choke up every time" because "he really captured the spirit of the film and Mickey's character." I've been excited to see The Wrestler already, but now I can safely say I'm even more excited because of Bruce Springsteen's song! I'm not entirely sure how we've come to reporting music news (e.g. Danny Elfman's score for Wolf Man) as the big news of the day, but oh well, because if it draws some more attention to Aronofsky's latest film, I'm all for it. This guy needs to hit the mainstream, only because he needs to continue to have the support he needs to keep making great movies. I'll be seeing The Wrestler up in Toronto in the next few weeks and will be one of the first to report back on it - stay tuned!

That's some pretty good news! This flick will, no doubt, do wonders for Mickey Rourke's career too and expose Bruce Springsteen's great music to younger ears. Way to go Aronofsky!

This movie is going to be one of the love it or hate it, but either way everyone will end up seeing it or hearing about it.
