Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Getting 20 Minutes in IMAX 3D

This news today will be like rubbing salt in an open wound. Although its been delayed until July next year, and we won't exactly see the scenes that this news pertains to for another 10 months, IMAX has announced that the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will have roughly 25 minutes presented in IMAX 3D. ComingSoon reports that IMAX co-CEO Rich Gelfond mentioned in a earnings report conference call to shareholders that "we believe this film will include approximately 25 minutes in IMAX 3D split between the opening sequence of the film and the finale." This 3D presentation is most likely inspired by Order of the Phoenix's 20 minutes of footage during the final fight that was shown in 3D.
I didn't actually see the IMAX version of Order of the Phoenix from last year, so I can't say whether this is exciting news or not. However, I do remember hearing that it was quite well received by fans and I'm certain most will be excited to hear that some of the intense fight scenes from Half-Blood Prince will be in 3D. I'm not too familiar with the book, however I am under the impression that the fighting in the caves is part of the 25 minutes that will be shown in 3D. Half-Blood Prince is again directed by David Yates, of Order of the Phoenix last year. It will arrive in theaters everywhere starting on July 17th, 2009. If you need your Harry Potter fix, you can still watch that first teaser trailer over and over for another 10 months.

I've read some reviews where people have bashed this film, saying that the best scenes in the book are awful in the movie.

Uh, Bryan, how many of the reactions have you read? There are at least 10 extremely positive reactions out of 13 released so far. The only ones who criticized the final act of the film were the negative reviewers, the rest of the people seemed to love it.

That's not new news, anyone who went to see The Dark Knight in IMAX saw a brief trailer saying that very thing (at there was one when I saw it)

I'd call this bad news, actually. I saw 'Superman Returns', which had isolated 3D sections and I can't tell you how annoying it was to see little flashing green glasses on the screen whenever something cool was about to happen.

my advice is simple…if you not like it, just dont watch it in IMAX…
hey…you still can have it in conventional theater…why bothering too much about it???
IMAX is been designed to cater a specific moviegoers how love to watch on bigger screen + some additional 3D majestic…let them watch it for fun peacefully…
different people has different motivation to enjoy the movie…but in the end its for FUN…

I don't have an IMAX here so I cant really say, but whats the point of like 20 min here and there of IMAX or 3D when the rest of the movie isnt? Seems like a gimick that's useless.
