Alien Invasion Flick Battle: Los Angeles Finds a Director

I've been twiddling my thumbs, anxiously waiting to see what Hollywood has cooked up in the wake of Cloverfield, but there hasn't been much. I was hoping we'd see a plethora of monster invasion and alien invasion movies, but alas, only a few have showed up. One of them, Battle: Los Angeles, we announced back in April. The project most recently secured a director - Jonathan Liebesman of Darkness Falls and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning previously. So what is Battle: Los Angeles all about? The story follows one Marine platoon's encounter in the battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles.
As announced originally, the script was written by Chris Bertolini. Neal Moritz (Click, Evan Almighty, I Am Legend) is still producing and Sony is distributing. Liebesman made a pitch that featured "a whiz-bang presentation that showed his specific vision and passion for the project, described as Black Hawk Down meets Independence Day." Liebesman also went out to locations in Los Angeles, shot various scenes, and added CGI aliens. He also created a pre-viz alien invasion sequence. Boy do I want to see what that looked like. Anyway, don't believe all the hype - apparently the script is pretty bad, but I haven't read it myself.

#2 That would be awesome, I agree. This so called 'pretty bad' script could be one of the ones tossed out on the net to detract from the real script. So many rumors run rampant online that I'll take this with a grain of salt ,at least, until more official info circulates! I'll stay tuned!

This one interests me. Like the last part of Berg's War of the Worlds. Or other films feature army vs aliens. This will be a fun summer flic.

Alex, when a film is called BATTLE: LA, I don't think it needs to have a great script.
