Rumor: Neveldine and Taylor's Jonah Hex is Josh Brolin?

There was a fun little incident a few months back regarding a proposed photo of Thomas Jane as gunslinging comic character Jonah Hex. He had himself made up for a photo shoot in order to convince directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor to cast him, but he didn't get the job. So if he wasn't the right choice for Jonah Hex, then who is? News comes today from Jeffrey Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere that apparently it's none other than ex-Goonies member Josh Brolin. Although at this time, I think it's more appropriate to call him George W. Bush. Although he's an incredible actor, I prefered Thomas Jane.
Wells explains that Josh Brolin's rep kept claiming that he was not attached and that this rumor wasn't true, but Wells insists it is because he trusts his friend. Neveldine and Taylor are very vocal filmmakers and I'm sure they will confirm (or deny) this casting announcement soon enough. A Jonah Hex adaptation was first announced last July and is the project that Neveldine and Taylor (the crazy minds behind Crank) plan to do next after they finish both Crank 2: High Voltage and Game. Neveldine and Taylor also wrote the script themselves, which is based on the DC Comics character Jonah Hex who is a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood.
Another note - I think a lot of people are confusing Jonah Hex with the Robert Downey Jr. film Cowboys & Aliens - they're entirely different. The character of Jonah Hex is known for wearing a Confederate army uniform and his partially disfigured face. He first appeared in the 70's in issues of DC Comics' All-Star Western before getting his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. Neveldine and Taylor are not making a pure western, but plan to develop this with supernatural overtones in the hopes of creating a franchise. My own top choice was Nathan Fillion, but I suppose Josh Brolin will do just as well.

I prefer Thomas Jane for Jonah Hex! Even Though I think Josh Brolin is a great actor, I just see Thomas Jane for the part. Especially after that photo he did. Nathan Fillion would of been a good choice too!
