Adrien Brody Will Become The Courier for Russell Mulcahy

Adrien Brody

Adrien Brody has joined the action film The Courier as the lead character. Brody will play a daredevil carrier pursued across the country by corrupt cops and rival crime bosses when he has to deliver a briefcase to a notorious underworld figure who can't be found. Sounds quite similar to Transporter. The film was written by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the duo who wrote Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma, and is being directed by Russell Mulcahy, of Resident Evil: Extinction previously. Production will begin in January in Louisiana and Las Vegas, which means we can probably expect this to end up at some point in Vegas.

I would usually be quick to shrug off this film, given Russell Mulcahy is directing, but with Brody involved, I'm actually going to take a closer look. Although I've always loved Brody, his performance in Rian Johnson's The Brothers Bloom this year really made me respect him quite a bit. And I can't really see him just taking on a bad role, which is why I've got a feeling this may be more than that. I'm hoping this is Mulcahy's break out gig, since Brody is a great actor and Brandt/Haas are great writers and I'd really like to see this turn out amazing. So far the story sounds a bit bland, but I'm sure more will be revealed soon enough.

Sounds cool. But is it an action or drama or thriller?

Sounds terrible. It sounds like a cheap rip off of The Transporter and I love Jason Statham. You can't replace Jason Statham with Adrien Brody.
