Another Great Trailer for Nacho Vigalondo's Timecrimes
October 27, 2008

I've said it before but I've got to say it again - Nacho Vigalondo is a fascinating and hilarious guy and his first feature film, Timecrimes, is finally hitting theaters soon. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard great things and will be catching the first screening that I can get to. We've got another great trailer for the film, this time from IGN, that actually does a great job of introducing the twisted story, even though it's a Spanish-language film. The story follows a man who accidentally gets into a time machine and travels back in time nearly an hour. It looks very weird and somewhat confusing, but potentially very entertaining.
A man who travels accidentally back to the past and meets himself there. A naked girl in the midst of the forest. A weird guy with his face covered by a pink bandage.A disquieting mansion on the top of a hill. All of them pieces of an unpredictable jigsaw puzzle where terror, drama and suspense will lead to an unthinkable sort of crime. Who's the murdered? Who's the victim?
Watch the official US trailer for Timecrimes:
Timecrimes (aka Los CronocrÃmenes) is both written and directed by Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo, who is making his big screen debut here after directing and acting in numerous shorts, including the Oscar nominated 7:35 in the Morning. The film first premiered at the Fantastic Fest last year and has since gone on to play numerous film festivals since then. Magnet Releasing is distributing Timecrimes as part of the Six Shooter Film Series and it will hit limited theaters starting on December 5th.

Really!? That looks painful. No thanks, it's been a while since a good movie about time travel has been made.

The last good time travel movie was Primer…which each one of my friends hated, but I thoroughly enjoyed.

Actually sad to say but this looks like almost a complete ripoff of a Twilight Zone episode.
Even down to the fact where he has to "hide" from himself in the time machine to saving his wife from himself.
In the show he ends up killing himself in the past to stop his future self from killing his wife. Wonder if they will steal that part of the plot too.
Can't recall the name of the episode that its ripping off but in it he comes home to see his wife murdered and gets chased by the man in bandages and drops back in time several times. Each time becoming more unhinged until one of his doubles killis his wife. When he finds out it was really him who killed her he travels once more back in time to the night that he met his wife and kills that version of himself before he met her, trying to save her once and for all.

Looks like a rip-off of Primer. Which was an awesome movie, but I'm not sure i can take that kind of mind-f*** again…
