One More Final Trailer for Bryan Singer's Valkyrie
October 30, 2008

United Artists has debuted one more final trailer for Valkyrie, which is officially due out in theaters just before the year ends in December. Given what happened last time with my opinion being quoted after we debuted the other trailer, I thought I'd take a closer look at this and be a bit more critical. However, my opinion hasn't really changed - I still think this looks incredible. To me, Bryan Singer is a very capable filmmaker and a fascinating story like this in his hands can only mean good things. To put it simply, this seems just like an intricate assassination attempt set during WWII, and something about that is just naturally very exciting. Please be sure to sound off with your own opinion as well after watching it.

At the height of WW2, a group of high-ranking German officers hatched a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, and seize power of the military command in order to end the war. The operation was codenamed "Valkyrie", for the emergency plan that was meant to be used in case of a revolt against the Nazi government. This plan had been modified by the conspirators to ensure their success, but for various reasons the plot failed when finally carried out on July 20th, 1944.
Valkyrie is directed by Bryan Singer, who previously directed The Usual Suspects, X-Men 1 & 2, and Superman Returns. The film's screenplay was written by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, The Way of the Gun) and Nathan Alexander. Valkyrie arrives in theaters on December 26th this year.

Is it just me or is that music used in the trailer the theme from the Saw movies?

This is becoming better and better with each passing traile, in the trailer they used "Hello Zepp" now that was good because the particular piece is a bulider of momentum, and this films seems to be filled with nothing less, Tom Cruise looks incredible, and the rest of the ensemble cast will be great as well, looking forward to December 26th!

What the fuck? Saw music? SAW MUSIC!!! That didn't fit AT ALL.
It was cool to see some of the new footage, but it didn't compare with the last trailer, which was one of the best trailers I've seen all year.

i think they should have spoken in German. kind of weird to see German uniforms and all of them are talking English. i wouldn't have minded the subtitles

this trailer deff looked good until the saw theme started playing….
once that happened, it lost all emotional gravity for me - it associates the movie with the saw franchise… doesnt make any sense

This looks to be a superbly shot and (shock) an accurate homage to the members of the German resistance who tried to take Hitler out on July 20 1944. Its a story that needs to be told well after some previously lacking attempts both here and in Germany. Its well cast and the actors look like their historical parts. Even the minutia like uniforms and set detail is right. The film looks like it will be great. The only question is how will it do financially and will it recoup its massive investmnnet? Goood luck Valkyrie!

Would it have killed them to make the actors work on German accents? Tom Cruise sounds like your average American action hero (lol) and everyone else sounds like they'd be plotting to kill Churchill rather than Hitler.

Think of this movie as your German "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" in terms of character accents. (Although at least Christian Slater attempted an 'ere guvnor accent.)

I think i'm the only one who does not mind the saw music. Valkyrie looks awesome.

if they would have killed that bugger hitler that is some of us german descendants may never have been born there was totally an exodus of people all over the world and not to mention a lot of lives would have been saved ah but the volkswagon came out of it
