Paramount Adapting Paul Pope's Battling Boy Graphic Novel

In an acquisition somewhat similar to Universal's frisky purchase of the unannounced EA game, Paramount has acquired the rights to a graphic novel that isn't due out on bookshelves until 2010. Written by Eisner winner Paul Pope, Battling Boy is a gritty graphic novel that centers on the kid son of a superhero who comes down from the top of a mountain at his father's request in order to rid a giant city of monsters. He ends up fighting a variety of both new and classic monsters, including Wolfman, Muckmouth, Rubber Lips, The Grimmick, Egg Man, and The War Pig, to name just a few. No writer or director has been hired just yet, but Brad Pitt's Plan B production company is currently searching for suitable candidates.
Given my comic book infatuation is growing nearly every day, I thought this news was worth reporting today. I know the comic book isn't even out yet, but something about it just seemed genuinely interesting. The concept actually feels like a mix of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass (being that it's a kid who is fighting) and some other sort of monster-filled comic (I'm sure others know of better examples). The artist has mentioned on his blog that he's been given the freedom to draw epic fights for Battling Boy that run upwards of 50 pages. Additionally, Brad Pitt's Plan B has been scooping up numerous comic book properties in order to turn them into high profile feature films, including Kick-Ass, Black Hole, The Killer, and World War Z.

For some reason, I read the title as 'Paramount Adapting Battle Pope Graphic Novel' and got really excited.
Battling Boy is good too, though.

Dig Battle Boy, Pope is incredibly skilled, though that draw would be lost by a live action. Wonder where they'll take it and how much attention they'll give it.
Then I got distracted by the concept of a viciously awesome NC-17 Battle Pope flick. . . thats a thought.

Pope rules and he's pretty protective of his work so I reckon this could be good.
Read his Batman or 100%, he's one of the best comic artists out there.
