Steve Carell's Funky New Project - The Beaver!
November 7, 2008
by Alex Billington
There's no need to delay - let's get right down to it. The Beaver is about a man who walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand, treating it as something close to a human creature with human feelings. It's described as a comedic mix of Being John Malkovich and Lars and the Real Girl. This isn't a joke. In fact, it's apparently such a good script, that Steve Carell himself has taken an interest in it. A production company called Anonymous Content recently picked up the spec script written by a first-timer Kyle Killen. Apparently they're looking to attach a director before they sell the distribution rights to a studio.
Since this is still in the very early development stage, it's not something that we can expect to see too soon. However, given how much buzz it's generating within Hollywood, I'm sure it'll picked up and pushed into production much sooner than later. As crazy as this sounds, I'm not actually that opposed to it. In fact, if it's really as good as they claim, then I'd love to see it. Too bad this news hit the web so early - I think it would've been a better move to keep this whole thing a secret until they had some footage to share. It kind of reminds me of Borat - maybe the next new big comedy? I'll be very curious to see how this turns out!

I just really hope it's not like Steve Carel's normal comedy. I like him much more in his dismal roles like in Little Miss Sunshine and Dan in Real Life.
That's just me though.
