Bond Week: What Are YOUR Favorite Bond Movies?
November 13, 2008
by Alex Billington
Earlier this week we asked Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster what his favorite Bond movies were, so now it's time to ask all of you. Besides the upcoming Quantum of Solace, there are 21 other Bond movies in the franchise's 46 year history to choose from. Out of all the films, 7 of them star Roger Moore, 6 of them star Sean Connery, 4 of them star Pierce Brosnan, 2 of them star Timothy Dalton, 1 of them stars George Lazenby, and 2 of them (so far) stars Daniel Craig. There's a very diverse and exciting selection of films to choose from, so it may be a bit tough to narrow them down, but now is the time to reveal all. It's time to man up and admit which you prefer the most. So what are your favorite Bond movies?
To kick this off, I'll officially reveal my own favorites. My absolute favorite Bond movie is On Her Majesty's Secret Service, closely followed by Man With the Golden Gun. Additionally, I really love Moonraker, You Only Live Twice, GoldenEye, and a new addition, Quantum of Solace. Remarkably I'm not the biggest Sean Connery fan (that is a discussion for another day), so none of my favorites are really from his era. The reason why I prefer the ones I mentioned above mostly stems from my experiences watching them when I was younger. For example, On Her Majesty's Secret Service has a lot of skiing scenes and I still love seeing all of those even to this day. These definitely aren't the typical choices, but that's what I love about this franchise - everyone can have their own unique favorites.

I love From Russia with Love, The Man with the Golden Gun, and GoldenEye. I really dont have a favorite out of those three but if I had to choose one it may very well be GoldenEye only because of the FPS for the N64 and the fun we had with that.

My favourites in order are: The Living Daylights, For Your Eyes Only, Casino Royale, Goldfinger, A View to a Kill. Sean Connery is my favourite Bond. My least favourite Bond film is probably Thunderball or Diamonds Are Forever. And Maryam d'Abo is my all-time favourite Bond girl. Oh, and Duran Duran's theme song is the best one of the bunch.

Bond Top 5!
1. From Russia With Love (The pure essence of Bond is here. You can't top a fight in the Orient Express)
2. Casino Royale (This is just a GREAT movie. The writers did a great job taking the story and putting it in a modern context. Daniel Craig does a great job!)
3. Goldfinger (The sexy Pussy Galore? A laser heading to Bond's manhood? Oddjob throwing hats? A girl covered in gold? The notion of a radioactive Fort Knox? That's enough!!)
4. Dr.No (The silver screen and the great Connery-Bond get together for the first time)
5. Tomorrow Never Dies (It's not the best, but I like it so much! And Teri Hatcher… oh Teri Hatcher)

Hands down my all time favorite is On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Following that in order would be From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Spy Who Loved Me, Casino Royale, World Is Not Enough, For Your Eyes Only, GoldenEye and Thunderball. Those are the ones I can watch over and over again and never get bored with.

Thunderball, hands down.
Connery kicks Roger Moore's ass in every way, and Daniel Craig is the secon best Bond. I like my Bond to be a badass, not exactly something Moore has in droves. Dalton is pathetic, but Brosnan and Moore were both good and I can't complain, just not my favorites.
goldeneye, you only live twice, goldfinger, live and let die, the spy who loved me, Moonraker, the man with the golden gun, octopussy

Goldfinger is my favourite of the Connery Bonds (and probably my favourite overall)
I haven't seen many of the Roger Moore films, but I would probably say that Live and Let Die would be at the top.
I haven't seen the Timothy Dalton or George Lazenby films.
For Brosnan, I have to say both Goldeneye and World is Not Enough were pretty close (leaning towards the former)
Casino Royale would also be in the top five somewhere

No. 1 is The Spy Who Loved Me. It was the first Bond flic my father took me to. Plus, Roger Moore riding that retro jetski in his uniform, and the Lotus sub car…too cool.
No. 2 is Moonraker. Really enjoyed the Jaws storyline and the Close Encounters theme as the alarm code at the glass factory was a nice touch.
No. 3 is Casino Royale. Watching Craig transform from a hired killer to 007 was great. If you notice even the music changes as the film goes on and you only get the traditional theme at the very end when he says "Bond, James Bond." Good things to come!

My all time favorite, Goldeneye.
Goldeneye is one of those bond movies that you can easily watch over and over without getting sick of it. The story line and plot is great, and Sean Bean does a excellent job of playing 006-Alec Trevelyan. I also like how they gave another 00 agent an important role in this movie.
